Subject: How can I create special brushes?

Hello, I'm currently working on a Poser project that deals with adding some art work on a texture. I would like to make some brushes that will make this work a lot easier for me but this PS newbie can't exactly figure out how to do that so I thought I'd ask the experts :). Thanks in advance for your help!!

There may be other ways of doing this but here's what I do. I start with a white background & create a new layer to make my brush on. Highlight it with the rectangular marquee tool then go to edit..define brush. You'll get a little pop up screen where you can name the brush if you want.. Hope this helps...

I'm curious why you said start with a white background and create a new layer and do a rectangular marquee? Start with a transparent background, make a brush then edit > define brush and name it.

It's something I read in a tutorial somewhere. Also some of the brushes I've tried on a transparent background just didn't look good.

Also, use black to designing the brush. Anything other than black will lower the opacity of the brush (unless you want the brush or parts of it to be that way).
