Do you haiku? Well, you should.

An ancient Japanese art. Pure beautiful poetry in a simple and elegant form, just perfect for your digital needs.

Haiku is a simple but difficult artform.

It goes like this:

A 3 line poem which doesn't rhyme (but rhyme is not the point).

The first line is 5 syllables
The second line is 7 syllables
The third line is 5 syllables

Be somewhat obscure, be somewhat abstract. Think Zen on wheels and you got it.

I wish I could take credit for the following. I can't; they're all taken from copyright free contributions.

Enjoy, laugh and contribute.

Your file was so big.
It might be very useful.
But now it is gone.

The Web site you seek
Cannot be located, but
Countless more exist.

Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.

Program aborting:
Close all that you have worked on.
You ask far too much.

Windows has crashed now.
I am the Blue Screen of Death.
No one hears your screams.

Yesterday it worked.
Today it is not working.
Windows is like that.

First snow, then silence.
This thousand-dollar screen dies
So beautifully.

With searching comes loss
And the presence of absence:
"My Novel" not found.

The Tao that is seen
Is not the true Tao-until
You bring fresh toner.

Stay the patient course.
Of little worth is your ire.
The network is down.
-------- A crash reduces
Your expensive computer
To a simple stone.

Three things are certain:
Death, taxes and lost data.
Guess which has occurred.

You step in the stream,
But the water has moved on.
This page is not here.

Out of memory.
We wish to hold the whole sky,
But we never will.

Having been erased,
The document you're seeking
Must now be retyped.

Serious error.
All shortcuts have disappeared.
Screen. Mind. Both are blank.

Poser is painful. Clothify? And render? Ha! There is no chance.

SamTherapy ( ) posted Sun, 23 January 2005 at 9:07 PM

Almost. You have only 6 syllables in your second line. May I suggest: Poser is painful. Clothify? And then render? Ha! There is no chance.

Damnit, I meant to do that. Can I plead no sleep and pregnancy?

SamTherapy ( ) posted Sun, 23 January 2005 at 9:22 PM

Yep, but I could also say you have an unfair advantage, due to there being the two of you working on it. :)

Good haiku also sets the message in either time or space by inference. If the full moon is as white as a fox's tail, you know it is night-time. If a startled frog croaks his last, you know that you are near water. The impatient man Foot tapping like beating rain Hydrokinetics? Carolly

No money for clothes, but - a free temple and sword... Blank-faced, in twilight.

You may be amused in the way this artist delivers his haiku. This is one of my favorite sites on the Internet. Read every page, the letters he has received from his customers are particularly noteworthy.
