Took all the advice I got on board, went back to the drawing board, and this is the new incarnation.

Built a new bridge, moved it further back etc etc.

How is it doing now.

Should I have anything in the front part of the river or is it OK empty? Oh and I almost forgot I brightened it up a bit.

It's really magical. Very atmospheric :^)

I think the bridge is a little big versus the houses...

Very nice indeed!...your river bank, the flowers in the grass and the two figures make the foreground interesting, I wouldn't put anything else there......

Nicely done. Wonderful amount of detail and color. Not the same style, but your work has nuances that remind me of Currier & Ives. Have you ever tried panoramic view? (lots of space to work in) Great scene cho!! ICM

Looking really good. Lots of color and many, many props...

Very nice work. I like the way the river draws the eye into the scene. How was the grass done. Looks great.

THe land is simply amazing, I love how light fades through the hills, I love the colours you used and the overall bucolic atmosphere.
If you want to make this image perfect try to work a bit on the water texture, some turbulence near the rocks, vawes following the stream, etc etc...

Thanks for the comments. I have put a larger version in my gallery.

MikeBerg..I appreciate what you say about the bridge, but I couldn't make it any smaller and get it to span the river. In my original wip I had a more formal modern looking bridge with several arches, but it was suggested that a humpback one was more in keeping.

Cuddlejacket, the grass is a bryce texture I put together in the dte, using 3 channels. I could e-mail it to you if you are interested.

Yeah, the grass is great, kinda fluffy and interesting-looking compared to the bland presets.

This is how I did it. Works best with an almost flat topped terrain, then the sides get the rocky tex and the top is grass.

Excellent. Thanks for the info on the texture. I'll give it a try. Need to understand the DTE a bit more so this should prove an interesting exercise.
