Show me your best alien, either in the marketplace, freebie or on another site. I'm prepping for a sci-fi movie and need several different species and races, so show me what you got and where I can can get them! Thanks!

Khai ( ) posted Tue, 08 February 2005 at 6:49 PM

Check out Sanctum Arts' "Havoc" at DAZ. That's a real mean looking beastie with great detailing.

Mighty Lady's got several aliens on her site. I have yet to actually use one, but if you go for the Gojira vs. Tokyo look, they look promising.

Fatale's Demonoid. Right here in the freebies; he/she's absolutely perfect in sci-fi scenes.

If you need anthropomorphic beings, check out the freebies offered by Little_Dragon. His Furrette may appear 'toon-like on the surface, but with the appropriate morph twists, you can have a more "serious" looking alien, especially if you use dramatic lighting. He's also sponsoring Lemurtek's "Second Nature" anthros. If you have Poser 4, you already have the "seed" files to create these creatures. If you happen to have Victoria 1/2 and the Mil' Cat from DAZ, you can "upscale" and use LD's "Mia", the Millenium Catwoman. The hybrid figure is free, but you need the two DAZ products to obtain the combined figure.

Sincerely,

Bill

Oh, and there's the 4-breasted P4 character at Rendervisions freebies, I used the same technique on Vicky to create a 4-breasted Vicky alien. (spin a couple around to her back and she makes a *great* partner for slow dancing!) And Traveler has a cool SciFi whip at RDNA.

Hey Garic, since the Phibian is one of the main characters, please drop a line to us when you get something out. The Phibian is one of our favorite figures and we would love to see something cool done with it :) Good luck with your project :) --Rebekah--

I love the alien by Dreampaint and Akahastur, called Duniyalis (Renderosity marketplace), for Victoria 3.

Has anybody seen anything like a 4-armed humanoid, like Edgar Rice Burroughs' green martians (Tharks, warhoons, etc.)? The extra arms would be placed somewhere about the lower ribcage, and might or might not inclde extra shoulders, pecs, breasts, etc.

Sixus makes the most serious Aliens you do not want to bump into in the night.

Phibians are my favorite

There are also some seriously alien aliens by Davo; I think they've been pulled from the RMP but you can get them at Beyondbent. For anthopomorphic aliens, with a few morphs and magnets and imaginative textures, you can get some quite strange looking creatures out of even the default P4 figures.

Wow..all great suggestions. I really appreciate all the help. I'm getting storyboards and dialogue down now and a new rampped up computer at the end of March. So as soon as I get some test renders going you'll see some results. I had started awhile back on some images but with all the things going this past year I had to put the movie on hiatus.

Now I'm getting things back into gear. Above is an old test render regarding the cast. The walrus man finally ended up being to difficult to pose and animate since I am not a model maker or poser guru. So swap out the walrus with Sixus1's Phibian and you've got the main characters...

AntoniaTiger ( ) posted Wed, 09 February 2005 at 8:55 AM

The DAZ figures all seem to have Alien morphs of one sort an another, and the TV/Hollywood style of actor-in-mask is almost too easy. Aiko is worth a look, as the base shape and proportions aren't quite human. It's not just whole-head morphs. Look at some of the ear morphs. It wouldn't be hard to morph ears to something odd, and then turn them into props for other figures, though you wouldn't be able to pass on the resulting meshes. And I'm not talking to Sarte...

And if you go to the front page of PoserPros, you can nab this guy free. Better hurry, though, he was supposed to have rotated off last weekend, but with all the chaos there lately, they neglected to post a new freebie Saturday, so anyone that missed him still has a chance. Not sure how much longer he'll be up, though.

And if you need a really weird alien, you can get this guy(?) free at my site. There's other sci-fi freebies there, too, robots, interior scene sets, etc. And my stuff is all free for commercial art usage, so there's no worries there.;)
