Subject: Favourite artist poll (we want YOU)

LostPatrol ( ) posted Wed, 09 February 2005 at 5:57 AM · edited Wed, 13 November 2024 at 11:57 PM

Ok there is some serious stuff going on at present, but I feel that it is still important to keep this a fun site, without which the community will dwindle and that would be a great shame. So in keeping with my sometimes odd controversial and cynical British SOH I offer the following poll in an attempt to have a light-hearted discussion oh photography and photographic artists. The Poll: In no particular order and forgetting distance and language barriers hypothetically. Who would you most like to meet form Rosity and why?

Michelle. I love her work and I know that we would have a connection in terms of Photography. Her work fasinates me.

LostPatrol ( ) posted Wed, 09 February 2005 at 8:57 AM

Misha its my job to answer a question with a question lol Ok in no particular order obviously I cant list everyone, and based it on people that I have had contact with. This is for fun remember so no pulling my hair if I dont pick whoever.. Michelle. A Michelle took an interest in my work form day one virtually, and has offered me allot of help and support in the last 18 months or so since I joined Rosity, also I have great respect for her photographic art and skills, some great IM chats. Misha Although we dont always see eye to eye I have great respect for his photographic skills, expertise and PC tutorials not to mention his very calm people skills, being a forum mod is hard work (trust me I know) Gerhard (cant spell his screen name) logiloglu I think A most wonderful and multi talented artist and a great inspiration. Nuitec A most wonderful and multi talented artist and a great inspiration. Cynlee Wonderful artist fantastic imagination (nice eyes) a great conversationalist both on and off forum a great teacher and inspiration. Angus (our paths may cross some day anyway, we tread the same land) fantastic landscape photography and depth of knowledge with the Monroes, can name all the hill I photograph and keeps me right on my incorrect gallery writings not forgetting his bravery up them icy hills. The master of the universe, layers and surrealism (needs no introduction in the known universe) TEDZ aka the tender HC Fantastic imagination, every image is original, a big influence and inspiration and knows Falkirk, not forgetting a truly unique persionality. Jimry Fantastic natural history photography, excellent insect and macro photography. DHolman Wonderful model photography fantastic toning, great depth of knowledge with many things. (especially monitor profiling and calibration) Andromeda31 Fascinating lunar photography. Apophis906 Lovely diverse gallery awesome insect and plant macro, knows all the Latin names. Tv (Shelia) Great abstract artist and likes tell it how it is postings. Many others but I think 12 is enough and I have got to go and fix someones computer, the list goes on but I have to stop some where, so I will leave it there and leave myself open to get shot down, its just fun remember. If your not mentioned sorry nothing personal. People I dont want to meet LostPatrol Hes a nutter! Damn I never considered how hard all these names are to spell! (Apologies for mis-spelled artist names) So when I come to see you all remember the plane tickets are going to cost me about a billion /$$$ whatever.

It would be kewl to meet you and the rest of the gang too!!!!! :) ok guys...whatcha say??? shall we all take a vacation together and go on an exclusive RR cruise???? Doesn't that sound like grrrrrrreat fun!!!!! ok, when and where are we goin' guys??????? :)

There are those here whose work I admire so much I would love to meet if only to learn from them. There are those here who I feel a hell of a lot of affection for, and would love the chance to just give them a hug, and then stay up talking all night, sharing stories and lives. There are those here who I'd love to get sloppy drunk and laugh with. And then there are those...... So many people, but I can't name them. If I leave a name out accidentally I would feel bad or they would.

I am, therefore I create.......

Yes Michelle and that was the risk that I took and maybe shouldnt have, but I am a risk taker.

Without which I guess I would still be in the south instead of selling up quitting my job and taking a gamble, that thankfully paid off. Looking back now it was impulsive and stupid but got lucky.

Maybe I will come unstuck one day.

Ah I'll have everything on 26 red!!! spin, click click click damn 27 black!

Anyway it was light-hearted fun to lighten things up a little.

Having said that not many have dipped their toes in.

Oops

LP
Anyway I have been sat here twiddling my thumbs waiting for a delivery of CS which fell off the back of a lorry (quite literally) and has to be re-shipped, thats life I guess.

I may have been misinterpreted as I sometimes am, on this thread, but my reasons were two fold: 1 to have a lighter hearted confab, in the light of the possibly and to some annoying copyright issue that is going on. 2 it wasnt a competition on who are the best artists, but more about who and what individuals like, and why, we are all different, and what we like/makes us tick are different, I thought it may have been an interesting thread, and an opportunity to say who has inspired us, there are far to many people that I have great respect for to mention but have a certain bonding with some members from IMs/gallery comments etc that I have had with people, and people that have gone out of their way to help me personally and artistically, that is reflected in my earlier post to this thread and is not supposed to mean I like anyone more or less than anyone else. I think we are sometimes all to reserved in out commenting, and should be a little more open, I could probably put absolute rubbish in my gallery (and have done) and it will get an excellent rating. It was intended to be a bit of fun in darker times, and had hoped that the response would have been more open. Thank you for reading I am controversial I am cynical I am LostPatrol Good bye

keep up your light-heartedness, Simon! i didn't take this thread the wrong way. i saw it as you trying to have fun! well, if you really want me to be more open, i can be, but it will be a verrrrrrrry long response. like you, there's just no way i can narrow it down to one person. and you know me, i tend to talk a lot. i won't be concise. I can talk about all the people i admire and why but that will take some time. i can't even narrow it down to one place i want to go on vacation! i want to go everywhere! no way can i narrow it down to a single person i admire. i can do a hot 20 maybe. Can i narrow it down to 20 people???? let me think about it. Well i'm working double shifts today and tomorrow. wish i had more time. anyway, your thread made me think about going on a cruise with RR members and thinking about that and what kind of an adventure that would be like made me smile. so thanks! i'm silly. i'm sheila. ta-ta!!! :)

Simon, you know I really do appreciate you lightening the mood... if I had to choose only one artist I'd like to meet in person, it wouldn't be difficult to guess who that would be... sigh :]
