I have voluteerd to assist with a task of converting a self-propelled Float. I have attached 2 pics of the existing structure, this post and the next. What I want to do, is convert it into a sterwheeler type boat on water...But still "cartooney" Im looking for any help in modelling this thing with detachable parts, for a presentation. I cannot pay anything and Im doing what I am doing with it for free (volunteer)(Im actuall doing the re construction of it as well). I am needing to "present" the conversion for funding to pull it off, and I think that multi-angle 3D poser renders just might do what I need. anyone willing ta help or at least throw some artistic ideas at it? (for example, the street light and power poles wont be in the "water" when converted.. looking for ideas here.. The animal heads are animatronic (move up and down)..The "sternwheel" will spin when were thru. Here are pics and thanks in advance.

PS ALL I have to "trade" for help is:
1.5 saved teeth from childhood

  1. Rubber Throwing stars..(dont ask)
  2. THREE FAT files of divorces and custody court paperwork
  3. 1 stack of debit reciepts not logged in yet
  4. An "Erkle" doll (off Family Matters)
  5. 37 complete but dried up BIC pens
  6. Trashcan size amount of foam "packaging peanuts"
  7. An old "YRC" button from college days (Young Republicans Commitee)
  8. A Grateful Dead Scarf My Grandmother knitted for me after she got a prescription for glaucoma in '82
  9. 5 sheets of "bubble wrap" (already all popped, sorry)
  10. a free gift from "Fingerhut" (lol that even still exist?)

And I thought I was over my head involved in too many overwhelming projects!
I know you don't need just comments here but ... well... that is a big job!
When you're done please share some images will ya'? It would be great to follow the progress and at least pat you on the back telling how well you're doing. ;o)

LOL! Real Republicans don't end up divorced with no money, do they? ;-)

Raz, is this going to have to be animatable? Or are you just going to do still images?

"LOL! Real Republicans don't end up divorced with no money, do they? ;-)" LOL...that has to be a truism...at least with the current crop :) hmmm...as far as the conversion...you are going to use the current float and convert it???? Almost appears to be a total rework would have to be done, other than the chassis

Yes, the existing structure consists of simple plywood foam and resin sprayed over everything to weatherproof it. the colors are just fuzzy fabric covering. I believe any artist here can do the task as far as how hard it may seem... Im just a poor modeler at this point outside of primitives... thanks for all input!

raz ( ) posted Sat, 12 February 2005 at 4:26 PM

randym77 no, i just need to use stills. the real thing will be animatable, but the folks wanting to see what they are providing money for already know that. thanks

Maybe we could split it up. If a list of the animals (heads ?) and the other parts could be made, numbered and put here we can "grab from the list" what we want/are able to do. And confirm it with a post. for example write: I'll do #3 the big, yellow flowers.

wow! I appreciate it! Im gonna take a "whack" at the main deck.... the swoopy banners (the red thing the guy is carrying" is what I might have trouple with... and the flowers I would too. Thanks!

actually, wasn't there a big morphing banner floating around in some free stuff? I'll try a search

raz, will you make a list of the stuff? It is kind of hard to see what is needed. And what format? obj files or what...

.obj is fine. I just need the Trolley, mostly. I dont have any other pics. The Trolleys roof seems to "curve" down in the middle, higher on the ends.. gives it a cartooney look. I will also need help with the new sterwheeler boat, and any ideas for the "props" that fit the new theme.. I will post what I can do and get up...

"2. Rubber Throwing stars..(dont ask)" Don't need them, got a couple real one, don't know where they're hiding though :-) "7. Trashcan size amount of foam "packaging peanuts"" Donate them to folks in the shipping biz, like Mail Boxes etc. they'll mack use out of them :-) "8. An old "YRC" button from college days (Young Republicans Commitee)" Might be worth something to political button collectors "11. a free gift from "Fingerhut" (lol that even still exist?)" Yep, very much so and we got the bills from them to prove it :-)

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.
