THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: This one`s for Ang.

When Ang came over to the UK last summer, we had a day out in the Cotswolds. I think one of her favourite places was Arlington Row, at Bibury, a row of 17th.C weavers cottages. She sent me a photo of the place soon after and I thought I`d have a go at recreating it. Anyway, here it is, Ang, as promised. Best I could do. I started off trying to make the cottages myself until, after considering folding the whole project because of my non existent modeling skills, I realised I had Transpond`s Country Cottages sitting in Poser. With a little bit of butchery and a fair bit of clumsy postwork I`ve come up with this. The only time I`ve tried actually copying something before was that Dutch mill thing you may,(but probably don`t) remember, but this was much harder. In future, I`m going back to making it up as I go along, :o).

Very, very nice, I have antenna in my freebies, you know :P

Sambucus ( ) posted Sat, 12 February 2005 at 2:19 PM

Ha, thanks Kemal but I purposely left them off. Damn things, even the Tower of London is encrusted in them.

That's a pretty fair reproduction of a very picturesque place. I have to admit As I looked at it one of my first thoughts was "I'm glad he left off the tv aerials".

This is most excellent! Very photorealistic. If you hadn't provided the photo, I'd have a tough time telling. Hats off to you Sambucus, very good work as usual.

Amazing work!

Hey, that's very good. If you need some roses, I can send them. Individual flowers only, unfortunately, but still might be good.

OMG! Thats beautiful! And yes, that was my favorite spot. (except for those darn antennas)

Sambucus ( ) posted Sat, 12 February 2005 at 5:04 PM

Glad you like it Ang. Yeah, I always forget something. I was going to have to do the roses as picture tubes in PSP. Oh well, I`ll do it before I post in the gallery.

What a beautiful setting! I can see why Ang loved it. You did an excellent job of recreating it too...=)

This is just so English. You don't really get scenes like this anywhere else. You captured it wonderfully. I love the Cotswolds and spent a great week there a few years back. Well done.

Looks great! Perhaps brighten up the big bush on the right, and add some flowers everywhere?!? I think it's as true to the photo as necessary, and it's a great way to learn, trying to mimic reality...

Damn Sambucus i have been to Arlington Row, at Bibury, many years ago when i travelled around the UK. I looked at your image and actually took that for a photo until i scrolled further down. Great job on the reproduction man.

GROINGRINDER ( ) posted Sat, 12 February 2005 at 8:00 PM

That is amazing! I am glad that you left off the tv antennas.

Ardiva ( ) posted Sat, 12 February 2005 at 10:20 PM

That is simply amazing! I like it better without TVland on top of the roof as well. lol

Excellent composition Sambucus! I like your version without the antennae better.

There's a character hiding, that you can't see in Alan's render, its just behind the dormor(sp?). Here's a different angle ;P And the finished version in the gallery is lovely!
