Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 04 4:13 pm)
I am also new. I have learned a great deal from the tutorials available on the web. I highly recommend the tutorials here at Renderosity (see tab above), the tutorials at Curious Labs (sellers of Poser), the tutorials at Daz3d (makers of products compatible with Poser), and tutorials by Dr. Geep, PhilC, and at Poserfashion. Also, just plug away.
Checkout all the poser tutorials on this site and just start by using the program. You can't just make the cloths and figures, you can go to DAZ's website and download the free bases for Victoria 3 & Michael 3 to start you off. Experiment with it. That's the only real way to learn it. :)

Some things that I would really like info on are how to make new figures. How to amke new clothes. Very broad, general, statement, what version of Poser are you using? Poser ISN'T a modelling program. It's more of an animation tool. You can make characters pose, dress them and use props etc, but, making new character's would be far too advanced for beginngers. You would need the base figures & morphs and V3 or M3 to get you started. You have to learn how to dress the characters first, then pose them, then learn how to render the images. ;) good luck.
with all due respect... i would NOT suggest you do what zippy recommends about adding more human models, sorry. You don't need more things yet. and if you are asking to make texture maps, you are NOT a newbie. Otherwise please post two or three images you have rendered so we can see where you are. ::::: Opera :::::
Look, I'm sorry. Ok I'm not sure what every thing is here. I want to learn to do things, but I guess that I will have to do that on my own. I waited so long to do this because I was afraid that this would happen. I apologize for any inconvienince that I may, and probably did, cause. Thanks to those of you who tried to help.
No need to apologize to anyone, ebil. Poser is frustrating at first for everybody, especially if you're not familiar with 3d to begin with. To narrow down the focus a bit on what has already been said I'd suggest you start with Dr. Geeps tutorials. Just do a search on this forum on "geep". He has been kind enough to write a hundred-some tuts in easy to digest bites. A few weeks from now it will feel a lot less frustrating.
apparently, you think MY posts sent this person, hurt, away? Reading it now, perhaps I should not have capitalized my second 'NOT' in that post.
If you are stil reading this, ebil, I apologize and withdraw my capitalized "NOT." I was not attacking you in that post, but my syntax may have seemed so. Come back, if you would like more clarification and help.
However, a new person asking to make clothing, characters and textures, plus, again with all due respect, zippy advising them to go get complex Mil. models with a million morph dials...in that post #8 I am asking them to clarify, are you a new person or not? If so, then simple slow, defaults, tutorials, etc. If you are NOT new, please post some images so we can see where you are and advise about options for advanced skills of texture, clothing and character creation.

"If you are stil reading this, ebil, I apologize and withdraw my capitalized "NOT."" It's amazing to me how total anonymity - such as someone sitting behind a computer screen, typing words on a message board to a bunch of total strangers, who they can not see, hear, touch, and don't otherwise know from atom - still doesn't seem to preclude the typical emotional responses people get in real life social situtations. You would tend to think people would be much less likely to get their "feelings hurt" when conversing on a message board like this one, especially over something as trivial as how someone typed something, but obviously that's not the case. We humans are strange creatures. ;-)
