Subject: Anne Rice is moving into my neighborhood

Okay, not really my neighborhood, but at least into a close zip code. I just heard on the news that she has bought a Tuscan style house in La Jolla. Doesn't mean anything, but I don't have many celebrities to talk about. And since it is remote I'll ever meet her, I still don't. ;)

That's so cool though!! Wonder if she'll keep her house in New Orleans too. :) If you meet her, get an auto for me ;)

I will bet right now that our director and development officer will be trying to find a way inside her front door as soon as they hear about her. This is one part of fundraising that I find disagreeable.

"Vampire Chronicles'' Author Buys La Jolla Mansion
02-14-2005 4:16 AM

(San Diego, CA) -- "Vampire Chronicles'' author Anne Rice is moving to the San Diego area. Rice recently bought an eleven-thousand-square-foot mansion in La Jolla for about 8-million dollars and put her New Orleans home on the market. Her new three-story La Jolla home reportedly has a panoramic ocean view, as well as six bedrooms and ten bathrooms, along with an office, exercise room, spa and lap pool, motor court and four-car garage. Rice has authored 25 novels. She also wrote the screenplay for the 1994 movie "Interview With the Vampire,'' starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.

6 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms? I can only imagine why mentioning the number of bathrooms in a new release was so important.

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 14 February 2005 at 7:17 AM

Haven't you noticed that the number of bathrooms is the new status symbol? It appears to be a big deal to have multiple ones (and the staff to clean all of them). You can tell I'm in a low rent zone...I only have one!

dido6 ( ) posted Mon, 14 February 2005 at 9:16 AM

I just want to know if there's only 6 bedrooms.. how in the world do you need 10 bathrooms! lol... I can only imagine!

I bet she has one off her office, one off her exercise room (probably with sauna), and two by the pool (so the boys and girls can have separate facilities).

:)

She never has to wait in line, that's for sure!!!

I suggest that you might want to plant garlic in your herb garden this spring. ;-) jon

I think she may want to, instead of me. As predicted, our director is trying to find a way into her front door. I suggested to a co-worker that it might be wise to find out what interests Anne Rice has (if any) in her donating before trying to squeeze money out of her. Just because she's a writer, doesn't mean that she funds libraries. She may have other uses for her money.

Like buying plungers for all those bathrooms.

:)

On the other hand, it was nice to see that Marilyn and Tom Ross (self-publishing experts) have given a sizable gift to the library at my old alma mater (San Diego State University).....I am pleased because my director thinks my old school doesn't have enough snob appeal for her.

Sometimes, irony is sweet. If you couldn't guess, I'm a little irritated at my director these days.

Anne Rice I love Anne Rice I have everything she has ever written even the naughty stuff. She is the only reason I wanted to visit New Orleans to do a [friendly and non-intrusive], drive-by of her house, just to get a glimmer of her Now how pathetic is that ???? :] Just teasing about the drive-by, but I would love to do an interview with her. This is very exciting news indeed! I hope she is not giving up her New Orleans home, as I would still love to have a reason to visit. Thanks for keeping us updated dialyn :) HeyNow - maybe you could send her a plunger, as a welcome to the neighborhood gift - I bet she would get a hoot out of that :) Dee-Marie
