Cool morph, thanks! How did you figure out that Node arrangement?? I would never had thought plugging the Reflect node on that side would have an effect?? But It Sure Makes a Shiny!! So I take it that Poser doesn't calculate the node in a 'linear' path but rather in a 'cumulative' path?

Nice thought, but OBJ's aren't redistributable, unless RTencoded. That's why I didn't distribute my take on the same idea. (Great minds think alike!) You could add it to the character though, and redistribute the CR2 file...

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Mon, 14 February 2005 at 9:44 AM

That's not really true, Gareee... In some cases you are allowed to distribute morphs as obj files, look at all the morphs that exstst for the P4 people. They're all obj files. :o) Dunno about EmotiGuy though. But to say that morphs can't be distributed as obj is not always true :o)

Gareee ( ) posted Mon, 14 February 2005 at 9:56 AM

Not always, but in this case, the "head" is actually the entire character. Daz's TOS does allow redistribution of cr2 files, when they are not the actual product, so distributing the cr2 for this would be fine, but I have a feeling they are gonna have an issue with distributing the obj itself. I actually had my heart morph done on Friday, but Daz couldn't build an installer before the weekend, and did not want me to redistribute the obj target, so I figured I'd talk to them today, and see if it could be done. Better to be safe then sorry...

haha

you don't check out but you can't use the head morph I uploaded as a obj it is only morph and can be used only if you own the original figure :)
This way you can share all morphs you wish for every model and you can get more info about on the Daz website.

Your heart looks very nice !!!
and I am sorry Gareee that you can't share your idea on the right time, Daz don't told you everything about sharing a obj morph files that for real are not complete .obj and are free for distribution, files like this are edited with text editor and include only vertices.

Ah, you should be ok then. Since I work with Daz, sometimes I have to sit on my thumbs and wait for them. ;) Now someone who bought the Girl, needs to do a heart morph. (is the girl a new obj, or is che just morphs from the original guy?) Anyone know?

Yes I am Ok for sure and I know what I share here. I don't know if the emoticon girl is the same base as the guy. Maybe Sallie can tell us more, I saw she used the e-girl? Don't wait to long Gareee your first chance is already almost over. Much success in any way! ;) Cath

Well, I just tried, and it doesn't work on the Gal :o( As for the magnets, I've read somewhere that if you enable BEND (in a file editor) on the head, the magnets will work. Haven't tried it tough :o)

Mec4D: Is the material setting image you posted done after saving and reloading the character? When i duplicate the settings, I get a chrome-y look in the material room, instead of what's in your image. Kinda odd. FWIW, I also noticed that setting reflection higher then 1 can give some interesting results...

Mec4D ( ) posted Mon, 14 February 2005 at 3:46 PM

yes I used it from the cr2 files, I rework the material setting, I set the reflection value down because I don't want that the heart reflect to much. Before I render my character I see him in chrome color too. Check out the all colors maybe you forgot to change something if after rendering it still not looks the same as above.

Given my obsession with Alan Rickman, I simply had to do this... Thanks Kath for the morph AND those great shiny settings :o) I had made a shiny one but mostly used the anisotropic, didn't think of combining it with an environment map. This looks far better!

Since it totally refused to work for me both as an obj import and as a morph target :-( am I right in thing that's it just for P5 and us propack folks are left out? The yellow guy was standing there while error messages popped up in front of him

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

randym77 ( ) posted Mon, 14 February 2005 at 8:47 PM

Works fine for me in PP. No error messages, no nothing.

Are you loading the morph target to the figure's head? It's kind of confusing, because his head is also his body. :-)

Had Head selected, but got error saying it couldn't read geometry :( wonder if I got a 'bent' copy? will try again with a new copy

ROFL! IGOHIGH!!! That's SCAAAAARY!! Cath, that shiny setting is wonderful. And it's so easy to alter the colour in it too :o) I love mats where you only need to change it ONE place. So I just saved the red one as a P5 material and then used it all over the guy, then changed the gloves, soles and eyewhites to something else. For the pupils I had to unplug the environment map (the same pic as I used as background btw, it's from RDNA, a chrome setting for some of their cyber stuff) or it looked weird. But this is so much fun! Gareee, )I really like your heartshape too. More toonish in a way. This little guy is a hoot. Hmm... Has anyone done anything for the gal yet?

MarianneR ( ) posted Tue, 15 February 2005 at 10:29 AM

Charlie_Tuna: it's a bug in some versions of Poser for the mac. It can't read squished morph files. It works in fine in Poser 4 and the updated version of 5. There are ways around it though. Here's how I used to do it: Load the figure into Poser. Export the body part that is to be morphed. Open both the exported obj-file and the morph file in BBEdit Lite. Now the idea is to replace all the lines starting with v in your exported obj-file with the v-lines in the downloaded morph target and use that to load the morph. So, select and copy all the v-lines in the downloaded file and paste into your exported file to replace the v-lines there. A simpler way that I haven't tried but some say it works, is to grab one line starting with f and paste it at the end of the morph target file, after all the v-lines.

Jolent ( ) posted Tue, 10 January 2006 at 6:18 PM

Hi Cath, First, thank you for the morph. Second (grin) I'm so new to 3D I still have not figured out how to use it, or where to put the .obj file. (Only a week into 3D now, so much to learn.) Currently using DAZ, (Poser on the horizon just dont have it yet.) Does this work with DAZ? If so, what do I need to do to get this little guy to work? Thanks, Shauna

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Thu, 12 January 2006 at 5:21 PM

Attached Link: Morph Loader

For Daz Studio, you'll need the Morph Loader plugin (link above) You can put the obj anywhere, as long as you can find it when you need to load it (and at least in Poser you can simply save the character again once the morph has been loaded, I'm sure you can do that in DS too, so you will only have to load the morph once :o)
