Subject: Poser 5 Aiko 3 Catsuit Crash - MAC OS 10.3

RobbieP ( ) posted Tue, 15 February 2005 at 12:16 AM · edited Wed, 19 February 2025 at 2:11 AM

I'm hoping someone can help with this...I am trying to apply Aiko's catsuit to her, but Poser 5 keeps "unexpectedly" crashing. I'm wondering why this is happening. Any ideas? I've also had crashes while trying to use walk designer lately. Is it possible my runtime folder has too much content in it? Right now it's a pretty hefty 1.72 MB. That's all I can really think of. I;m going to see what I can get rid of (old stuff I don't use anymore) I'll post if that fixes the prob. Thanks!

"pretty hefty" 1.72MB. That's funny. My Poser 5 Runtime is 6.8 GB (and that's puny compared to some of the Poserholics in this forum!). Have you checked for a MacOS update? There is a Service Release 4 for Poser 5 MacOS. The updated version is 5.0.4.328. I hope that's the problem.

I guess it's all relative, right? Well, I forgot to mention that I had installed the update, still no luck :( Thanks anyway!

Have you tried reinstalling Poser 5 (back up your Runtime 'Geometries', 'textures', and 'libraries' so that you quickly restore)? I have Poser 5 on MacOS 10.3.7 (G4, 1GHz, 768MB) and it seems to work without incidence - Aiko 3 with Aiko 3 Catsuit conformed to it. Before reinstalling Poser, I'd try reinstalling Aiko 3 and the catsuit. Maybe the installation was incomplete. Just pulling at straws here...

Actually, the latest SR for Poser 5 MacOS X is 5.0.4.335. I had to complain to CL to get this version as they apparently don't have direct control over the new web store site (administered by another company altogether) and have difficulty reconciling the availability of updated versions for online purchasers (I ordered P5 when they were still using their old web store).

I have found that the Aiko model is unstable in OS X if any textures or bump maps (or other files that are called during loading) are missing. Poser 4 will load the Aiko model with the usual "Do you want to continue searching" prompt, but Poser 5 just "quits unexpectedly", meaning it's probably Poser 5's fault. Or Daz's fault for failing to play nice with Poser 5, but I doubt it.

The catsuit requires you to put the aiko model in first and then the catsuit. I am just making sure that is what happened and not catsuit first. It that is what you did then contact DAZ. Via phone if possible. They have a toll free number. (They are jsut faster via phone)
