Subject: Attn: Mec4D - Translucence on the Sixus1 figures?

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Tue, 15 February 2005 at 6:02 PM · edited Wed, 25 December 2024 at 3:57 PM

Cath, I've been able to use face_off's real skin shader on the Sixus1 project human figures, but not your skin translucence. I'm not sure I really understand how the figures are mapped. I have played a bit with the spot bump mapping you showed me. The figures are available at poserfreebies.com under the link Project Human. I'll post some images later.

If I can be of any help, let me know. :) --Rebekah--

Thanks Rebekah... I'm trying to get the same glowing ears effect on Adam2 that I could with M2. I'm still working on getting my demonstration pictures together :)

This is Adam2 with real skin shader and spot mapping. I couldn't run the script directly onto Adam2. Instead I had to put Adam2's textures onto Lilin's lips and nipples and then copy them over to Adam2's head, skin, lips, and nipple material zones. It was kind of odd since the script would run on Lilin and not Adam2 even though the material zones had the same name...

Here's Cath's translucent method. I couldn't tell where the ear was on the Adam2 maps so I took the bump map and converted to RBG. Then in Curves, I changed the input to 191 and the output to 51 and used the results as my attempt for the translucence map. You can tell by the glow in the wrong places that my experiment is a dud. In addition, since Adam2 doesn't have a material zone for his nostrils, they almost disappear. I'm working on the problem with the eyes now...

Here's my settings for the translucence test...

Here's what the eyes look like now.

Here's the fixed materials for the eye. I used Cath's eyetrans reflection material method for the eyetrans. The eyeball was made slightly pinker with more of a shine.

Here's a profile shot... I messed up so there's no translucence through the ears.

Hi PapaBM, I made this render to help you out while Rebekah comes in your help. The ear area in Adam it's very well built but it's a really thight spot, so the polygons are really close together. Hope this help to see where you could found the ear. Pmatic

sixus1 ( ) posted Wed, 16 February 2005 at 8:01 AM

I'll see what we can get together for you as soon as we can Papa. And do you need a nostril material added or a UV template that shows you where they are ? --Rebekah--

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Wed, 16 February 2005 at 8:46 AM

A nostril material has to be added, otherwise the nostrils will just disappear as the lights are aimed at the back of the head.

Mec4D ( ) posted Wed, 16 February 2005 at 9:31 AM

Jeremy as Posermatic show you, you need to create exact the translucene map for the ears as I show you in my last topic about translucence. Create black map and on the parts where you wish the translucence effect paint with a light grey brush, don't use the whole map for the head as only parts as nose ears fingers etc.. Cath P.S I will make short movie tutorial to show you it in action as well.

Posermatic, I looked at the area you showed me and tried to use it to make a generic translucence map for the ears. I overshot quite a bit...

Mec4D ( ) posted Wed, 16 February 2005 at 2:01 PM

Sweet Jeremy you have to make a new map a black one with the grey areas where you wish that the translucence show up. for that you need to use the template map of the head figure. If you use the map for the whole head it will nevr looks good. Can I download the head show above? or the figure? tell me where?

Cath, I took Posermatic's image and duplicated the ear area and stretched it to fit Adam's map. Then I placed a black layer underneath and lowered the opacity of the ears. It's a quick and dirty map, but this was my result.

sixus1 ( ) posted Wed, 16 February 2005 at 4:04 PM

Les said the he will try to get a new OBJ out to you with a nostrils material added sometime tonight. He just wants to finish up the UV mapping on Lilin2 first. --Rebekah--

Wow! Thanks Cath! So is that what Les really looks like in person? :) I thought Adam 2 was based on Les in Real Life right?

Mec4D ( ) posted Wed, 23 February 2005 at 7:24 AM

From what I know that is true but not in my work above. The new morph and textures are based on my good friend from Chicago :) I don't know how Les looks like for real btw:)
