Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 7:38 pm)
I think you are going to find that everyone has an opinion on what is the best to render with :) I think properly done, Poser 5 can do some incredible renders. I think Shade does some great renders, and can import Poser setups. Vue does some very nice renders with Poser setups. What really matters, is that the person doing the render actually understands how to use their specific software. That is much more important than anything else. - Noel

There's no such thing as the "best" application for render results. It depends on what you want (and what you're willing to learn to make the most of your software). If you gave more specifics about what you want, people might be able to offer better advice. (For example, do you need network rendering? If so, then Poser isn't the best. ;-)
You might find the above thread at DAZ interesting. Someone compared a bunch of renderers (as nearly as possible). It's sort of an artificial comparison, but it's still kind of interesting. And you'll hear a lot about the various renderers in the thread.
Kind of like asking which is the best motor vehicle. Depends what you want to do. A Corvette is lousy for hauling rocks, a Ford F150 pick-up doesn't corner that well, and neither one works very well in a dirt bike motocross. Figure out what you want to do specifically and then look for a renderer that meets those requirements.
OT-Actully I've seen a '83 f-150 shortbox do quite well on a motocross track. Survived 3 laps. (If you ignore the blown tires, shattered tie-rods, bent frame, perforated gas tank, passenger seat hanging out the window, driver seat resting on the ground, leaf springs spread across a 20 mile radius and the driveshaft bent up through what was left of the box)..Most fun I've had in years! lol. With the interposer plugin for cinema 4d, I now do most of my renders there for the reason c4d has a much faster renderer than poser. But you need to consider if purchasing a seperate program will be worth the investment. If you can achieve the results you want within poser, then I suggest sticking to poser. But if you are interested in more complex moddelling and are willing and wanting to learn the software for more than just the renderer, I suggest trying some of the demo's out there and get a feel for what you like and work from there.
Hey Dannii :) I use shade when Im not using P5. The poser import in shade is really strong, except you cant transfer lights or procedural textures :) that said shade has better lighting in my opinion, and the procedural textures are pretty good too :)
Here are a few shade renders :)

Hi all, I'm just getting back into poser rendering and was wondering what package you use to get the best renders. I have a little money put aside to purchase some software but was wondering what would be the best to get. Perhaps a few of you would be kind enough to show me a few of your renders using different software. Many thanks for your help in advance. This forum rocks.
