I have to admit I started work on it this morning before Claymore came out with the thread. But yeah, doodled a bit. It looks a bit too 1980-ish or something and a bit too heavy, doesn't it? drac

oh yeah, and if you're wondering why the prop blades have triangular facets it's because... ahem... i miiiiiiight have stolen them from somewhere. cough drac

Nice start Drac. I actually saw an early aviation motor that looked a lot like this. It had cylinders the size of paint cans, lol.

Reminds me of my model of the Mercedes inline 6 used in the Albatross from WW1. Rotary engines are very easy in wings I can do one in 10 minutes for the basic cylinders with cooling fins. I am thinking of working on my own line of fantasy Aircraft styled in sort of the WW1 way. I have plans on using a boxer style engine configuration with the cylinders sticking out the side.

I love the rotary engines though. Here is mine from Rhino 2.

beautiful model GG, what aircraft is it from?

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

Its going to be a noisy lot, im still thinking if i would keep 12 cilinders or make it a whopping 24 cilinder radial engine, it still can. Oh and mine is done Bryce.

Thanks danamo, Dann-O, Incarnadine and Quest. Robert J please do one twelve cylinder, and a 24 one. That way you will have engines for the small trainers, as well as the big fighters and bombers. How big is your file size and how many objects are there to your engine? I think your valve covers came out pretty good.

danamo ( ) posted Sat, 19 February 2005 at 12:59 PM

Wow again! That's a very impressive engine RobertJ! All the more so considering you built it in Bryce!

lordstormdragon ( ) posted Sat, 19 February 2005 at 1:06 PM

Awesome engines! I'm off to the Challenge thread to see what this hub-bub is all about... Rotary engines for airplanes? Not a new Mazda RX-12? (or godforbid, and RX-24??!??!)

Excellent engines, guys ('cept the ones NOT done in Bryce - bloody heretics are everywhere)

(Just kidding)

Looking forward to seeing some great final renders.

What is the time scale btw. First flight till when?
