Does anyone know how I would make a P5 ruby gemstone material for the Daz free lapidary set? cheerio lululee

If you'd be so kind, I'd really appreciate it if you gave me the link to the lapidary set - the front page of Daz's site crashes my browser no matter which one I use. I'll see what I can do. :)

This is probably not the nicest gemstone shader around, but it has the basics. For realism with gems it's important to get the refractive index right. For ruby, it's 1.76

Actually, what would happen if you were to put a falloff map in the reflect, or maybe a color math between a falloff and a cloud.

The other tricky thing with gems and such is that the shadows they cast have light gathered in them... not a solid shadow at all. Carolly
