i know i should've just trashed this to begin with, but i just can't leave this one alone...keep coming back to it, hoping i can salvage a really bad shot. i'm just fascinated with those sinking leaves and the way the light hits them. i know this one has multiple problems...that weird light on the right by the leaf (what is THAT caused by???) and that shadow on the bottom left may be distracting. Also, i'm not happy with the graininess. i tried several different ways to fix it, but no matter what i try, i'm just not happy with it. despite the multiple problems, of which i'm sure there are more besides the ones i've named, i thought i'd see if ya'all had any ideas before i put this in my trash. thanks guys!!! hope your day is a happy one!!! :)

i'm sure most of ya'all will find this one way too bright and harsh, but i really enjoy these tones and the lighting.

I don't think it's the shot or the composition as much as it's the subject. Let's face it it's stagnant water with some leaves floating in it. Not exactly a pritty picture you know. BUT if you wanna keep it! 'UM-1. I like the shadow on the leaf on the right. The weird light to me was not distracting not was the shadow on the leaf to the left. But at the botom of the picture you start to loose focus. Can you place the lower section onto a seperate layer then sharpen the focus and blend it in. AND I think you may want to increase the contrast. More red and yellow hunh! Hmm I would have thought to increase blue. Have you thought about grey scaling the picture OR converting it to inverse? I hope you dont' mind my playing around with it a tad bit. Bsteph

thanks guys! HC...maybe we can just open up the hatch and blow them out into space!!!! bsteph...by all means, help yourself and play with my images as much as you like! You make me laugh! Well, you're exactly right...stagnant water with some floating leaves...not exactly scenic...and well, let's face it...not much pretty about stagnant water, is there!? but for some reason, i do like it. yeah, a bit more contrast would probably help. and that bottom part does need some work. I'll give it a try later. i'm heading to work in a few minutes though. i've tried it in blue and orange (seems to be my colors of choice these days) and preferred the orange for some reason. i'll try your other suggestions and see. Thanks so much for your help!!!!

I'd like a zoon and crop of the leaf on the right. That might be what you need. ???

I was messin' around with your image and came up with this. Basically cropped to focus on the leaves to the right and then adjusted levels/ contrast to get a more silhouette look. Thought this brought out the SHAPE of the leaf, which was interesting to me. L8r! Joe
