Subject: Cloth room crashes at "draping"

Common fixes? Things I should be taking into consideration? Ideas? Suggestions? Thanks...

Does your cloth intersect the figure? Have you selected "Drape from zero"? Does your cloth fit in the zero pose? Can you provide a screen shot? Could be a number of things, if you can give more info we can take it from there.

I tried this again, and this time it didn't hang up. It's been draping for over ten minutes, but it's clearly at work... But to answer your questions (in case something jumps out as obviously stupid in my process): The clothe does intersect the figure. I'm trying to get a basic skirt together, and while I built a whole in the middle of it, I'm sure that it is smaller than the figure's torso. You know, I'm not doing an animation, and right now I'm just trying to get a test to work, so everything is at the default except for the frame numbers, which I've set all to one (from one to one, and drape from one). Is that not how I should be setting that? I really appreciate the help -- it would be great if the manual were a bit more useful...

OK Its not working because some of the model is still intersecting the figure. The solution is to assign the intersecting parts to the constrained group. Also I would not use draping but just calculate a 30 frame animation. This will give you more control over your result. If you just drape you will only have access to the end result, by using an animation you can select each frame.

As an example I used this method to create the freebie currently on my site in the freestuff section. If you examine the skirt you will see the constrained group. You may also find the tutorials on the site of interest. Hope that helps.
