Could some one point Me in the direction of some good tut's for exporting/importing between Poser and Bryce? I would really appreciate it Arctic

After exporting from Poser, place all the scene textures in the same folder as the exported obj. Bryce will ask where they are, click on the one it asks for, and it should automatically find the others. You WILL have to adjust the transparencey settings of any materials that have transparency, but that goes quickly. If you get an error while trying to import a Poser obj just open the obj file in UV Mapper, then save it out again. It WILL now open in Bryce.

Importing from Poser to Bryce works as GG stated except you'll need to adjust all the materials settings once in Bryce as well since they come in with ambience color black and the values all set to 100. Going from Bryce to Poser really doesn't pay.

You can't take anything out of Bryce that is native to Bryce other than, basically, terrains. So all you'd be able to do is take your poser figure back to poser. As Aldaron pointed out, it really doesn't pay.

Ok, you can get Grouper and use that to correct the .obj export from Poser. It helps a lot and its free. Or you can get the DAZ Turbo Importer which does a very fine job all by itself. Do a google search with the phrase, "Poser to Bryce" and you'll have no shortage of tuts. Some are more clear than others. You will have to fiddle with the transmaps and might want to change some ambience etc, settings on the skin so that it doesn't look so clay like. Some of the Cake1 eyes need to have the outer mesh adjusted to a glass texture so you can see the pupils.

EricSD Could you describe how you use the DAZTurbo Importer while in/around Poser? Do you save the Poser file first? In Pzr or .obj format? Not always, but I've had some grim results exporting .obj from Poser to Bryce. I sure would appreciate a more reliable method. Thanks - Jim564

as stated above, the trick is to get the textures to be found on importing to Bryce. I'll be back..nah..didn't work. I had this silly idea that I could just search for .jpg's in the Poser Runtime Textures directory, and copy them all to a directory in Bryce..but my search function (Win 2k), just does it on the drive level..dangit..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

feh, just missed the edit deadline. I did do it after all, a search on .jpg (do I really have 3,772 of them just on C?..;). Highlighted the results from the Textures directory, copied them all to a directory in Bryce (I made one up), and put them there. Should work.
Note- I think there's other file types that work with other versions of Poser (I have 4), such as .tif, and .bum, and .png, but the principle should work with them as well..

To use the Turbo Importer, first install the TI to the Bryce 5 program folder. Then, you can do one of two things: 1. Do scene in Poser and save as a pz3 file or 2. Do scene completed in DAZ|Studio If you have a pz3 file, import it into DS, then do a File : Export or just export if the scene was originally in DS. Oh, you may need to set the bump setting very low to 0 or 1 on items as the DS export has changed the formula for calculating the bump but the TI hasn't been updated to reflect the change (so a bump of 15% in DS comes in as 120 in Bryce). Wait until the obj has been exported message comes up then close DS. If you're on a Mac, you may need to access the folder you saved the OBJ to and consolidate the OBJ, textures, bump maps, and trans maps into one folder. Open Bryce 5 and choose File : Import Object, find the OBJ, and import.
