Subject: Network Chain Render 4.1.1

Sydney_Andrews ( ) posted Fri, 25 February 2005 at 8:33 PM · edited Sun, 12 January 2025 at 5:29 PM

When I did a test render using network render, the first one worked, having my PC Win Xp Home being the master, and my PowerMac being my slave. I didn't change any settings, just turned it on and it worked. Now im getting error messages that the PC cant connect to my Mac, even though the PC can see the Mac on the network. I know that they are on the same network because i can see them in my network and vice versa with the mac. I can still share files between both PC and Mac. I did a simple test render between my iBook and my Powermac, so I know that the software works there. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sounds like Eovia needs to use more specific error messages to help you out.

Don't you have activated a firewall that could have blocked the port used by the network rendering engine ?

I checked that. i just found it strange that, without touching any settings, it worked the first time, and then nothing after that. Ill keep looking into it. Thanks

Same thing here. I tried one of the scene preset (falling ring) and it worked at first but gave me that same message after 8 frames and stopped working... Also if I pause the rendering I get the rolling ball and I have to force quit Carrara I can connect without a problem with my network computers with EIAS Renderama ,Strata RenderPro and C4D 9 network. When I tried Transposer 1 on the network rendering a while back, it didn't work and was told by eovia at the time that transposer 1 was not compatible with the network rendering. I got the upgrade to Transposer 2 that is network enabled and it still doesn't work. The problem hopefully lies with the rendernode itself. One of the main reason I upgraded to C4 was for the network feature so I really hope I can solve this This is a mac to mac network Jean-Luc

I had a similar problem mac2mac. File very slow to load on the node (seemed stuck on 46% for a few minutes), then at around the 8th frame(?) I got some sort of "can't connect" error.... I thought maybe I hadn't loaded all the plug-in replacements to the node after updating.... Haven't had the chance to test again....
