Spike - You have been not only a fantastic boss, but more importantly a wonderful friend to all the Mods and Coords over the past years. You have always put the Rosity Community first and foremost, which was very evident with the long hours you devoted to the amazing Renderosity DVD - a true labor of love! Your gentle nature, wisdom, and understandings ways, shall be missed greatly - by all - especially your team - your fellowship of Mods and Coords. With the greatest of respect - we wish you all the best in your new artistic venture! Please keep in touch! Dee-Marie
Spike -- leaving? Wow. Sorry to see you go. I wish you the best with your new endeavors. You've done yeoman's work around here for a long time.
Welcome to Stacey.
My guess would be that it's the equivalent of a City Manager. In charge of overall day-to-day operations.
Probably answers directly to the site owners.
Spike....Ya know we're gonna miss ya... Best of luck with your new project.. Congrat's Stacey...

"raised eyebrow WTF is a "Community Manager"?" Community Manager is defined as one that oversees and manages the community side of Renderosity. Just as Clint is the E Commerce/Marketplace Manager and he oversees the marketplace side of things, I will be overseeing the community side of things. Hope that helps explain. Stacey
ponders Nope. ;) Clear as mud. What exactly does a "Community Manager" do? What does "overseeing the community side of things" entail?
"I am a good person now and it feels... well, pretty much the same as I felt before (except that the headaches have gone away now that I'm not wearing control top pantyhose on my head anymore)"
What does "overseeing the community side of things" entail? Oh, you know. Putting people on one-week bans that last forever, banning people for saying they can see up other people's noses, giving answers that don't make any sense, stubbornly refusing to ever apologize to anyone for any reason, that sort of thing... ;-P bonni

Thanks, Elizabyte. I was trying to avoid suggesting "Herding cats?" ;] I wanted to watch Stacey sweating while she tried to come up with a clear job description on her own, not have Tammy swoop down and tell us to quit picking on her admins. g Now you just... ruined it! ;]p~ By the way, nice pots, Spike. You're a much better potter than you were an admin. Good luck with it. But now I have to fill Lt. Cmdr. Spork's crew position in PoseDreck. Hrmm... sure you don't want to admin here part time, just for the sake of episode continuity? ;}
"I am a good person now and it feels... well, pretty much the same as I felt before (except that the headaches have gone away now that I'm not wearing control top pantyhose on my head anymore)"
First off thanks to everyone congratulating me. I appreciate it and look forward to all the great things coming. Ironbear, I know you want to just wish me well and be hopeful that this is a good thing for the entire community. Cause it is. "I wanted to watch Stacey sweating...." Oh and I don't really "sweat" over "coming up with answers". I like to think I am a little tougher than that. Gonna take a little more to actually make me sweat:) Stac
I sweat every night.....whenever I work out.
As I've already mentioned -- glad to have you around, Stacey.
"Tough" is a part of the job description.
I can respect that.
Anyone that just spends time in the forums needs to be tough -- let alone someone that manages the forums.
People with sensitive natures should be careful in these waters.

I don't need to go into details for all the times you have helped me here and for hanging out at Siggraph. I appreciate it all. Thanks bud, I'll miss ya as my modfather. And, I hope you get disgustingly wealthy off your beautiful vessels! ;o) AgentSmith

"Ironbear, I know you want to just wish me well and be hopeful that this is a good thing for the entire community. Cause it is." - StaceyG
Nooo... actually, I wanted an answer to the question that was a bit more specific than generic corpospeak. A pity you seem primarily interested in sidestepping rather than just posting one.
I don't wish you well or ill: how you succeed - or fail - in this position is irrelevant to me. [Well, not totally: if you fail spectacularly, it'll provide amusing RFI fodder. ;)]
I'm not "hopeful that this is a good thing for the entire community" because I don't see how Renderosity having a "Community Manager" is going to have jack all impact on the community as a whole.
I just want an answer to the damned questions: "What exactly does a 'Community Manager' do?", and "What does 'overseeing the community side of things' entail?" in specific.
That's a really nice set of generic phrasings you provided 'in answer' earlier - but they say precisely nothing. Your next two posts say even less.
"Oh and I don't really 'sweat' over 'coming up with answers'." - StaceyG
You don't really come up with any answers either.
"I like to think I am a little tougher than that. Gonna take a little more to actually make me sweat:) - StaceyG"
That a challenge? ;) Think real careful before answering that one.
"Stacey will do a great job." - Spike
A 'great job' at what precisely? That's all I'm attempting to determine.
"Of course, if one has a hide of iron -- then all that the sharks can do is break their teeth on it." - Xenophonz
Go shop, Xen. Seems to be your forte. ;)
You're not a shark in this, you have no teeth to even blunt on my hide, and I wasn't enquiring of you.
"I am a good person now and it feels... well, pretty much the same as I felt before (except that the headaches have gone away now that I'm not wearing control top pantyhose on my head anymore)"
What a strange forum thread. I'd like to say it's fun to read just to see where this is all going, but will that get me into trouble?
If you don't mind me saying what I see, sounds like there are some heavy chips on shoulders flying around here and hot under the collars happening aplenty.
Do you folks have popcorn at this forum too? Think I'll make some and get a tall drink while I'm at it. By the way, just curious, who is this Ironbear? Another former manager? Must be a strong important figure too.

Ironbear, By definition as she as already communicated ... A community manager oversees the community side of Renderosity (which excludes the marketplace). That means she is responsible for building and working with the mods and coords to; -Identify areas within the community that need improvement. -Monitoring and managing the areas within the community such as forums, galleries, tutorials, chat, etc. -Improving the communications among the team and the members. She has a big job --- one that is somewhat organized but needs a lot of work. So give her and the team some time ... all of this is not going to happen over night. She does however have an excellent team of mods and coords to work with so that is a great start for her. thanks tammy
Now Ironbear, don't you know... my job is to keep an eye on people like you ;) I have a lot to do so I must get to it. And once again Thank you all who have shown support. All joking aside, this truly is going to be a wonderful thing for the community as we can focus more on making improvements that will be beneficial to all. Have a great weekend everybody. If anyone needs help or has questions, let me know as I will be checking in all weekend. Stac
"Now Ironbear, don't you know... my job is to keep an eye on people like you ;)" - Stacey
I'd ask for a raise, now. A big raise, if that's the case. You'll need it. And I'm not joking a bit. ;)

That's what I was looking for. Thank you, Tammy.
See how easy that was, Stacey? You'd posted that, or similar, first off, rather than generic corpospeak, we'd have avoided several posts.
Now that I have an actual answer, I'll move along now. That's all I wanted. Thanks again, Tammy.
"I am a good person now and it feels... well, pretty much the same as I felt before (except that the headaches have gone away now that I'm not wearing control top pantyhose on my head anymore)"

Yes, it is. It's what I'd rather be doing.
However, I'm not above playing a little forum smack-down when it's called for.
You're not a shark in this, you have no teeth to even blunt on my hide, and I wasn't enquiring of you.
Oh.....last time that I went to the dentist, my natural teeth were perfectly OK. And as sharp as ever.
However, I don't really need to use them here. Things seem to be quieting down.
BTW - in a public forum, it's irrelevant as to whether you are addressing me specifically or not. In a public forum, one is free to speak within the TOS.....you did.
I am glad that Tammy provided you with satisfactory answers.
As for Stacey....she seems to be able to do her job well enough.
But, then again.....some mistake courtesy for weakness.
Who's Ironbear? Why would you need to keep your eye on him so much? Better go research this one. Must be a great known artist or very outspoken.
He's a guy that's been around the block a few times.......well known in the community.
Not a bad sort, really. He just growls a lot.
Stacey......once again: Welcome to the Community.
And always remember: Good Fences Make Good Neighbors.
