PlanetEarthbyGreaterPower, no photos allowed or you will be assimilated! previously, we spoke of how it would be a copyright violation taking a photo of a photo (like a poster, or even a billboard without the surrounding surface area) & posting it as if you took the shot & placed the lettering but reportage shots of buildings with signs couldn't possibly be a copyright violation :/

errrrrrrrrrrrr havn't you just posted it by putting it here. I am sure it is fine Shiela. If Doug comes in and removes it I retract the above statement.

We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies
live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to
sea in a Sieve.

now that's a big pain in the "social issue" LOL! thought it was ridiculous when a saw they wanted to have a "double your refund" instant win game just to do your taxes! :P & yes, sheila, i see it as being ok... or we'd have to go through life with blinders on, as if some don't do that already... (oh, i'm being so sarcastic today... sorry) good luck on the postwork :]
If you're photographing buildings located within the public view it's perfectly legal..... as long as you're not using it commercially. Then you would want to get a property release. Since these are for personal use, and the building is located right in the middle of plain view for all to see..... you are quite safe and within your rights to post it here.

thanks so much guys!!!! ok, NOW i got it!!! haha...yeah...i guess i shouldn't have posted it, but i figured if i messed up they could come put the cuffs on me!!! (or one of the official types in here would just delete it and send me to the korner!!!) cindy...sarcastic? don't worry silly girl; I didn't notice! i'm having one of those days where everything just goes over my head!! and i'm so hyper today i can't think straight. hey, someone got a Ritalin? what were we talking about? taxes. signs. yeah. well, taxes suck and it sure as hell is a big pain in the social issue! this is just an experimental piece (no really it's my MASTERPIECE!!) haha. seriously, i was just trying to give the pic a doomsday look...like the world had ended but the H&R Block people were still going strong! i dunno. i'm still playing around with that stupid image. sigh thanks guys!!! glad no cuffs for me!!!!! yipppeeee!!! p.s. those "helpful" people in the copyright forum still haven't responded. just that one person who posted something unrelated to what i was asking. glad you guys are here!!!!
Sheila!!!! you just stole my idea...for social issues. I was going to take pictures of Money Marts as it is in our news at the moment.Up to 1000% interest in some cases I have heard. Copyright issues is taking someone else's copyrighted work and posting it without consent. As stated in another thread you are allowed to take images of anyone anyplace, unless protected by some security. We would not be able to take any photos if that were the case. Go ahead.

absence but in the mastery of his passions."
Michelle hits it on the head!. Some places require a release notice...or have a protected value to them. It sounds weird but in some places you will be accosted by people requiring access to your images to see if they are 'legal'. I have had this happen at a the loading bay of a pub / hotel...a movie centre (in case I had copied movie posters for distribution on the net).. outside a library (people thought I was planning to plant a BOMB and was casing the joint!). I am innocent... one look at my mug shot will tell you that ... hehehe! Where I do a painting class the buildings are all 'heritage listed' meaning that you cannot publicly post images of them without permission. It seems that architecture is art in some contexts and has a value that is defended on that basis.

hi guys, sorry if this question has been asked a zillion times, but i'm not finding the answer. i have searched and been reading, but i still don't know the answer.
i just am trying to figure out if it's ok to post a picture of a building that has a sign with the company name and/or logo.
i've seen this done before in the gallery and didn't see that the photo was later deleted. i just wanted to be sure.
i posted this in the copyright forum, but you mods, past mods, & coords probably know the answer to this one quickly since you gotta look for violations of TOS (one of which would be copyright violation.
click on the link if you wanna see my post in copyright forum and the answer i've been given.
appreciate the help and again, sorry if this is old stuff. i just can't find the answer. thanks!
