My Library folders have become a mile long. I want to make separate folders for V3, M3 and the Girl. Exactly how and where do I begin. I can't see how I could get these items into a folder. I am completely in the dark. I would be so grateful for some exact instructions on this. Thank you.

Using Windows Explorer (or the Mac equivalent if you have a Mac), Go to your Poser 5 Root Directory (the folder where the Poser EXE file resides). You should see a RUNTIME folder there, along with a DOWNLOADS folder.

Once inside the base folder, create folders named V3, M3, Girl, and so on. Add as many folders as the number of libraries you want to create.

THEN, go into Poser. Go upward in the library structure until the only two folders you see are Poser 5 and Downloads. Once there, expand the menu shown in this screen shot and choose Add New Runtime. Locate one of the folders that you created in your root directory, and follow the prompts. After the process is complete, Poser creates the necessary runtime library folders for you to install into.

You'll have to do this for each new library you want to create. When you install new items, you'll have to make sure that you select the folder that is just above the runtime you want to install to. For example, if you want to install to your V3 library, choose the path as : Curious Labs/Poser 5/ V3.

If you want external Runtimes for Poser 5: 1.) Create a folder with the name of the Runtime (Mike3, for example.) You can use a good file manager program. 2.) Install something directly into the new Runtime folder (ex: Mike 3.)If you use a DAZ instaler, it will go into it just fine. 3.) You might want to use CorrectReference (CR Free), or better yet CorrectReference Pro (CRPro, available in Marketplace.) You're set.

The best tip I can give is to do some advanced research, ask the questions so you'll know what you're working with. Then map out a plan that makes sense to you. Get your tools together: 1.) File Manager program, 2.) P3DO Explorer, 3.) CorrectReference or CorrectReference Pro, etc. Then make a backup of your current installation before you start. You might even consider backing up everything, then deleting it so you can start over from scratch.

Link is to a tutorial at DAZ, on how to set up multiple runtimes. There are some great tips. For example, don't put your new runtimes in the Poser folder. Though it may seem natural to do that, since the "Downloads" runtime is there, Poser will run faster if you put them somewhere else. The main runtime and the Downloads runtime must stay where they are, but the others can be anywhere. Put them somewhere where the pathname will be as short as possible. It will save you a lot of scrolling and clicking. You'll kick yourself for not doing it sooner. :-)
