I've been trying to sell an updated version of my maxdefault scene -the old version was previously a freebie here- to DAZ so I can be cool like everybody else there, and I got an email from the DAZ stuff telling me how they've 'been doing some digging' and that I'm offering the scene as a freebie here. It kinda annoyed me, considering that I took the scene file down days ago when I sent the email to DAZ with the product offer. You know, God forbid I might have the same scene on sale at DAZ while I'm giving it out for free here.. I mean DAZ users couldn't possibly be that dumb.. but I didn't, and more specifically I took the damn thing down -which isn't even close to the new version- a while ago. So what's going on, the guy's psychic, knew I had a gallery and freebies for download on a completely different website, and said, "hey, I remember a completely obscure freebie uploaded ages ago by this guy...." You don't suppose he'd be trying to sell it to me? rolls eyes It's just ridiculous. I've sent him email explaining that this one has my own HDRI-wannabe-file, a psd with layer play, a different light rig, and not one, but 3 scene files, different textures, etc. I consider that as a different piece of work. And hey, I even consider it my bloody right to sell whatever I want, even if it was previously a freebie. Drac

Alot of 'freebies' are available for awhile, drac....then are put in the marketplace. It's no biggy. Daz does the opposite. They sell the stuff first then make it available for free. Go figure. My advice to you? Relax sweetie. :)

I don't see it matters. It was free, now it's not. It's your product, your choice, you can choose to remove it all together if you want. The guy sounds like a bit of a muppet.

Hmmmm....Muppet, ....Strings, .....Purse!! (nuff said there) Drac...Calm??.....Very Calm, He doesn't even get a dander up until Weelllllll after the first page or two.

Besides, since you've made some changes and improvements, it's not ralyy the same as the freebie version. That and the fact that the free version is no longer available should mean that there shouldn't be a problem.

Drac, please don't assume that anyone did a background check on you. Anyone who's been around the Bryce community for a while knows that you had the freebie available and its a perfectly legitimate question to ask what the difference is between the original freebie and the one you want to sell. DAZ does NOT allow anything that you broker with them to be brokered anywhere else, or even give the 'appearance' of being anywhere else, and believe me they go looking for it, that's probably why you got the message....did you take it off your home page here? that's the first place they look...
