Subject: Getting clothes to fit Stephanie 1

Jalad ( ) posted Sun, 06 March 2005 at 8:15 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 9:32 AM

My computer has limited resources, so I've had to limit my use of newer generation figs like V3, because it just takes forever and space gets eaten up fast. And I'm too much of a novice to really even understand the suggestions being made in threads like, "Optimizing morphed figures (especially V3)." So I mostly stick with older generation figures. Stephanie 1 has a lot of morphs, so I can use her for lots of different looks. But as near as I can tell, there isn't much in the way of clothing designed for her, I guess because she is supposed to be able to use V1/2 stuff. But even though most of the V1/2 clothes look decent when Stephanie 1 is in her default mode, the clothes don't conform with her when I start playing with morph dials. Is there a way to get Steph's morphs applied to V1/2's clothes? Is there some other way to get more clothes to fit Steph 1 when her morphs are tinkered with?

Thanks for your thoughts!

J

Stephanie 1 never did get many clothes to fit her. There are even fewer clothes that will fit Stephanie with her morphs enabled. One trick people used was basically to rob Stephanie of her uniqueness. Select her body, then find the Stephanie morph, and set it to "0." In essence, she now has Vicky's body. But that may not entirely do the job. Stephanie 1 is an older character, and you're not likely to find many suitable clothes for her.

The Tailor, available at Daz, can be used to transfer morphs from a figure to clothing.

One other thing you can try (since your computer has limited resources). If you can get most of the clothing to fit (clothes with body parts showing through). Make a rendering of Stephanie naked (make clothes invisible. export to PSP PS etc as a tiff file-tiff files usually have alpha channels intact). Then, make Steph invisible and render just the clothes, export as a tiff file. Then, in your paint rendering program, bring up Steph, go to mask, click on alpha channel and on the form. (what that does is completely eliminates the background around the figure-no jaggies. Create a new layer, put it below the one you have, x it out, then merge the Steph layer-yes there are two layers there, Steph and the Mask, you just don't see two. Do the same for the dress. Now copy the dress to the Steph picture as a new layer, then adjust. It works-just don't tell people that you did it in anything but Poser--Wink. Now why the merging thing: If you don't- you will end up with just the mask-try not merging-you will see what I mean. Plutom

Thanks for all the suggestions! The Tailor sounds easiest, so I'll try that first, but will go on to the paint program approach if need be. But it sounds like Stephanie may be more trouble than she's worth, in the clothing department anyway. Thanks again, J

Just wanted to jump in here and say I love Stephanie! lol She is nice and unique. I find that when I can't conform, or spin enough dials to get the clothes to cover certain areas, I just take the finished pic into a paint program, then smudge, push or soften them over the area...seems to work okay most of the time. Plutom I didn't even know what you described there was possible lol I think next time I might try that as sometimes it's not just her being uncovered but clothes just not fitting. Thanks for the tips. Good luck in your pursuit of clothes.

Hey, thanks for the netherworks link and the paint program suggestion. I like Steph too, so I'm glad for any way to keep using her (with clothes). Cheers!
