Everytime i try to boolean i end up getting tabs on it. Am i doing something wrong or is there something else i need to do other than just choose one item make it positive and the other negative then group them. You can see by the image what i mean. this happens all the time and i have to group two bits together then add two squares squashed down, make them negative then group them just to remove those tabs. If this is what i have to do so i can build a model in bryce i'll leave it to others, seems like to much trouble just to make arches for something. PS: that is a positive sphere and a negative square which i used just to show you what i am on about...it happens no matter what i use.

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

Are you applying the material of the negative object? If it's not the same material as the positive one, this could happen. Are those primitives or imported objects?

Better still, I think I've reproduced the problem. They're not tabs, they're the reflection off the inside. (Make sense cause I can't?) To fix it, duplicate the sphere, make it negative, and scale it down just a bit to make the egg shaped thing hollow. That way the negative object won't leave a glass cut into the egg for the reflection. Lost myself there too, but I tried it out and it worked.

I tend to get my booleans working in default textures (generally green) and then texture later. That way you can see if it works or not before you got to more effort.

looks to me a little like the negative cube is not wide enough to cut all the way through, did you check the alignment from top view first??

Experience is no substitute for blind faith.
