I think it's a beautiful soft dreamy image...... and I love the pinkish tone..... What about the focus don't you like? If you can verbalize what it really is about it that bothers you, it may be easier to give advice as far as camera settings go.

I am, therefore I create.......

thanks guys for the feedback! i wanted to make something soft and dreamy. i found this in a parking lot. it was wasn't something i just looked at and went "Wow", but i wanted to somehow take a picture of it that would make it look that way. everything around me was brown, gray, and boring. Michelle, hard to verbalize what about this bothers me. i think it's pretty, but just not quite there. focus too soft? DOF isn't stunning. hmmmm, what bothers me is that it isn't as "wow" as i wanted it! LOL! we should have a "wow" setting on our cams!!! LOL! exposure time-1/2000 ISO-64 F/3.5 I'm kinda surprised ya'all like this. maybe it's not as bad as i thought? i almost put this one in my trash last night but decided to put it in the forum first. i guess i just have an idea in my mind what i'm trying to create and i didn't succeed. and sometimes it's hard for me to explain. i feel like this is close but not quite there. thanks so much again guys!!!! i'm glad i didn't throw this one away!!!

I really like the pic, and the leaf is a great subject, but the sharpness of the skeletal section just doesn't do it for me.....especially around that solid dark broken(?) bit of stalk... If that was soft like the rest of the image I think it would be better..... I guess I'm just a bit contrary though ;-) (",)

funny, Mike...that's the park i like the best!!! LOL still, at the same time, there is something about it that doesn't do it for me either. i tried softening it and didn't like that either. I don't know...i guess i just had this idea in my head how i wanted it to turn out and i didn't acheive it. and it's hard for me to explain... i've always been a bit contrary!!!!! :)

You lost me - I never tried photographing fairies wings. This looks fine to me Shiela :)

And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.

Maybe the problem is in the fact that you wanted the foreground to be sharp, while the photo came out with the middle plan sharp. Hmmm?

Lovely image, the focus is spot on, and the DOF is very small, due to the open aperture, and the distance the subject is from the lens. A smaller aperture will give you a larger DOF, but IMO you will loose the dreamy effect. Really like this, IMO it is wonderful.

The Truth is Out There

I will join in and say that I like this also. I think that the softer focus and the slight color tint is what gives the photo a dream look.

This is beautiful Sheila!! So dreamy indeed!! I just love that mood!! Nothing else to say here I'm afraid! But I know what u mean about having something in mind and not getting it EXACTLY like that on cam! Frustrating!!
