Ask for what you're specifically looking for here in the forum. Someone may just do a quick tut in reply in the thread or if it is more complicated they might send it. If, on the other hand, what you're looking for is how to animate two humanoids engaged in some form of carnal knowledge...you're better off asking in the poser forum or on renderotica.

There are also animation tutorials on www.brycetech.com, and there may be one or two at DAZ proper. You can also look for animation tutorials in the 'Tutorial' section of renderosity, and also may find a few in the Renderosity [**Animation Forum**](http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12351). Plus other resources for animations are also there.Message edited on: 03/11/2005 00:36
Bryce Forum Coordinator....
Vision is the Art of seeing things invisible...
OK and thanks for the tips thus far: Well I have made a thread on this before, BUT not exactly for specifically ASKING for a tutorial: ANYHOO, I need a tutorial (w/screen shots) for animating an explosion of a spaceship, and how to make it disappear after the "height" of the explosion, also how to do lazers, AND how to do the cloaking/decloaking effect from the Star Trek series. See I'm just afraid to post another thread on this... I have tried the one at (I think) BryceTech, and itwas with NOT enough information for me to follow, it looked horrible so I have done my homework to try and rectify this problem, seriously. I CAN ANIMATE the movements of ships and all, NOT the above effects, that's what I'm having trouble with, the three attempts I tried, I was close to kicking the (insert expletive here) out of my comp. Can you say FRUSTRATION. I looked through the manual, no luck there. So, what's a guy to do???? NO IDEA, I REALLY AM EAGER to learn, I AM a visual learner, w/software, and am quite good w/practice, I just need some help here. Another Q: SO, should I have asked this in this FORUM, OR in the ANIMATION forum? Just wondering???? AGAIN< THANK YOU EVERYONE, for your help, writes down reminder to include renderosity.com in the moviecredits What say ye?
http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=1477890 That's very simple - an expanding sphere with a volumetric material. http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=568497 A bit more explanation. http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=1084640 This might help with particles. Clay had a short demo of a particle dispersal here, so do a search.

Animating lasers is also very simple. Make a cylinder, make it very thin, and put it just inside your laser gun tip. Make a target sphere (or whatever) and set it to Hidden, then have the laser-cylinder track the hidden sphere on it's long (Y-) axis. Then you simply keyframe the laser-cylinder moving towards your target... Tranpsarnecy transitioning? It's easy inside the Material's Lab. On Blend Transparency mode, 100% Transparent is exactly what it says it is... Warping ships in or out? You'll have a rough time doing the wiggly effects within Bryce, but If you just need some wobbly-transparency, I can send you some screenshots about how to do this with the Advanced Motion Editor. Feel free to ask whatever you want!
I don't mean to sound rude, but it seems like you want us to do all the work for you. If you need some screenshots of the effects you're talking about, that's cool. I also don't mean to sound elitist, but you are talking about some fairly simple effects, and really you should just spend some time experimenting with the ideas we've shared so far. Bryce is a program about experimentation, that's why they wrote it the way they did! You've got your key ideas right here. It's all about the Transparency channels, for most of your effects. So go play with those, and learn to animate them! Spend some time in the Advanced Motion Editor, play around and see what you can do with it. It's a pretty cool tool, after you get used to how different from the rest of Bryce it is... I'll make you some screenshots soon, I'm in the middle of rendering a volcano test animation, but once my CPU is idle I'll take some snaps...
Again, to be blunt, JimBobCarl, if you can't get a very detailed tutorial to "work" in the simplest 3D program on the market today, after all of the details that Brycetech goes into, and you dont' have the experience to make it up yourself, then perhaps you're setting your standards too high? Or perhaps you're in the wrong field altogether? I noticed that you have no gallery images at all, and I'm not trying to make an opponent out of you, but if you can't render still-shots in Bryce there's no way you'll ever pull off any decent animations.
All of our help means nothing if you're not willing to try thigs out for yourself. Nobody alive is going to spend a week doing animations for free, unless it serves a purpose.
I'm not trying to scorn you as a beginner, but it seems like you were expecting magic to happen in your animations. I assure you, a good animation (just like a good still-shot) is HARD WORK. There's nothing easy about it, and Bryce is the EASIEST program on the market, PERIOD. If Bryce is too much for you, then animation is too much for you.
If you don't want to put in your hard work, then you cannot expect to get decent results. Have you considered reading the manual? You know, that big book that came in your Bryce box when you bought Bryce? It should answer 90% of your questions.

Hey wait a minute AN explosion IS its own in and of itself Light source. For example, in a true TOTAL darkness room, and explosion will create its own light and then blow out, whereas in space wherever the light source is (sun) the explosion will use that light as well, BUT a true explosion IS ITS OWN light. I'm talking in circles, oh well, I thought i understood my own point, maybe not..... What say ye?

Too late, JimBob! The link takes you to part 1 of your tutorial, here on 'Rosity...LSD: ***** Bows down on knees and recites while waving outstreched arms toward LSD*****

I thank you sir!!!
What a relief to come home after a day of church and going to parents, ONLY to see a tut written for me, (and others) the lowly, newbies, out there so that I (we) can achieve my (our) goals of making this animation w/lazers work correctly.
send me your (website, gallery link, whatever you want and I WILL include it in the credits)
Sir, **** starts to choke and get misty-eyed***, I thank you again, from the bottom of my heart!!!
Going now to play w/my new "toy" tutorial

Aye, JimBob, my gallery is here at 'Rosity. I don't have the patience to do HTML and make my own site, too busy "geekin out" on Bryce, Rhino, Maya, and other proggies... I appreciate the thanks. Share the tutorial with anyone, it's a free deal, and I require no praise. I hope it helps you! The Explosions, we'll do later tonight. It's much simpler than what I did for lasers... Also, you don't NEED to get as complex as that tutorial, but there are some things worth learning in there, such as "Track Object" and "Hidden". Hope it's not too basic for you, or cluttered.
