I got the email that talks about two new products, the Slick Mod Hair and the Short Gel hair but I can't find them. }8^| Has anyone seen them and if you have can you give me the url? I've been all over the site, dumped my temp internet files to make sure I refreshed and the whole nine yards. I want to check out the new hair! Arrrrghhhh! Ok, I feel better. lol Marque

OK, found them but the prices are wrong so I will be waiting until Tuesday to order anything. Marque

For anyone else's information, run a search for "hair". It is in the data base, but they don't have pages linked for it yet. I also am wondering about the price thing.

you might have to go to the old zygote site and do it Marque

Hmm...I think both hair styles need a little work :-(

See above for the gel hair which I bought when it first came out.

Mike's new hair looks a bit like Martin Short's "Ed Grimley."

I usually speak up for Zygote, but these two hair products are to a very poor standard compared to the incredible transmapped creations coming from the community, and to a lesser extent, Zygote/Daz themselves. I don't think you can justify fifteen (or even ten) dollars for blobs when folk like Kozaburo are releasing stunning work for free. I don't think blob hair is appropriate at all now. Are these the first products released under the DAZ banner? If so, it's not a very good start. Maybe it's partly because here in the UK 'Daz' is a washing powder from the low end of the market, that I feel this whole offshoot venture is not a wise move for long term customer loyalty.

Mark, You really pegged that one...roflmao I think it's a good move, just needs to "wash" out the bugs and get back on track. 8^) Marque

Those two new hair are definitely not something I will buy. Even free I will not get them. I agree with you PJF.

michalki ( ) posted Sun, 14 January 2001 at 7:08 PM

Ditto. I've purchased Zygote hair & in my humble opinion, the free stuff out there is superior to it in every way. The only thing about the Gel hair that I like is it makes posing a figure a snap & also does not interfere with the model's face or profile in any way, so that if you have an outstanding face you want to show off, short hair is a good choice. But designers like Kozaburo are the true masters of that very difficult subcategory & it's doubtful that any commercial product not utilizing artists with their kind of talent will ever rise to the same level.

Agreed, no arguments. The one exception is Michael's wedge cut. But, most of the other stuff for Michael, well, sucks. Half of the hairstyles I use for Michael are modified female hairstyles, anyway. Chaosphaere

And--may I add, I misread the email. I thought they were referring to the gel hair for Vicky (usable for Mike) which I like very much. I went back and looked at these 2 and don't care for them very much. However, I stand by liking Vicky's gel hair and Mike's wedge cut G.

This is Eric from DAZ Productions. Thank you for your feedback on the hair styles. I thought it might be helpful to explain that we actually built these hair styles to a client's custom specifications in every detail. They needed the hair to be according to their designs, without transparency, and of very low resolution (for real-time web deployable characters). We didn't expect these products to have the wide appeal of styles such as Vicki's Layered Flip or Michael's Wedge Cut, but wanted to make these products available to those interested in more simple, low resolution models. And because these styles are more comparable to our standard Poser hairstyles than to the types of hair we regularly sell, they are priced at half the cost of our other hairstyles. Still, we feel they are a good product and will be valuable to many users. After all, our client was very pleased. :) I also wanted to write to explain some of our plans here at DAZ. It's a good point that these hairstyles are the first products released under the DAZ banner, and we don't want you to think that this is indicative of what's soon to come. In fact, the reason that we posted these models is because we are still working on a few other, more exciting products, but wanted to post something that was already finished and actually had a price attached to it. (Since the formation of DAZ Productions we've posted around 10 free models (not including the free hair maps and update files this weekend) and unfortunately haven't been able to add much more to our store. You may be happy to know, however, that we are nearing completion of Michael's Clothing Pak 2, and expect that to be available soon. Also, I'd like to appologize for the temporary mix up on the price of these hairstyles. They are now back to $9.95 in the online store. If any of you purchased them at $14.95, please contact us at 1(800)267-5170 or tech@daz3d.com with your order number and we will refund you the difference. Thanks. Eric Allen DAZ Productions
