Not so much a picture of the "ill" but a symptom of it for some folks...cash is just as good as money, money you don't have yet. Scary thought to me!

More a problem that most know. Added to page.

"The happiness of a man in this life does not consist in the absence but in the mastery of his passions."

Strange that pawn and 'cash lending' shops should now have such a social stigma - in Victorian times they were as much a part of life for the 'well off' as they were for the less fortunate. The ironic thing is, the stigma can affect people in such a way that it puts them to a big disadvantage. A 'cheque cashing' fee works out cheaper than a bank payment taking you into the red......yet people will suffer the latter rather than be seen in that shop.... (",)

Yep, different strokes for different folks...can't judge that at all. We have a state lottery, too.

Excellent entry....Food for thought.

Ah money, argent, fric, dollares, soldi, dinero....definitely a social issue! People seem to live for money nowadays and judge someone on how much they earn! I just can't understand that at all!! How come some stupid pieces of paper can make someone better than someone else?? Weird! I hate money! Great entry IMHO! :)

cynlee ( ) posted Sun, 06 March 2005 at 8:43 PM

yep, definately an excellent entry... very colorful too! why is it that the poorer folks have to pay the higher interest? not to mention get swamped with credit card offers in the mail...

tibet2004uk ( ) posted Sun, 06 March 2005 at 8:45 PM

Exactly!! We're surrounded by sharks!! :(

TomDart ( ) posted Sun, 06 March 2005 at 9:02 PM

As for the credit cards, each new offer comes with a special intro rate, maybe 5% for a few months. So, transfer all to that one, then when the next one comes transfer to that, to next, etc. Still, there is no catching up....as long as the plastic is being slipped through the reader. I want it all, I want now...oops! This part has nothing to do poor or middle or whatever...the plastic is addictive to some. God bless them in seeing the light and get out the shredder!

tibet2004uk ( ) posted Sun, 06 March 2005 at 9:16 PM

Yep yep, another good point!!

cynlee ( ) posted Sun, 06 March 2005 at 9:16 PM

i know this is a bit of a tangent off your post but it just irks me that as soon as my daughter became enrolled in college... the credit card offers came pouring in for her... like a college student could really afford to have one with all the school loans, etc... warned her before hand... don't you dare!!! :P didn't use to be that way... sigh

tibet2004uk ( ) posted Sun, 06 March 2005 at 9:20 PM

Did she listen??

cynlee ( ) posted Sun, 06 March 2005 at 9:27 PM

yes she did... so far... & saved a bunch on college too! just wasn't for her right now... another sigh...

tibet2004uk ( ) posted Sun, 06 March 2005 at 9:29 PM

Meaning? She left college??

Tedz ( ) posted Sun, 06 March 2005 at 9:49 PM

Yes She did....but...She is still Crew ...sigh

Unfortunate but true..... my husband is in the mortgage business and I hear the stories about how deep in debt so many people are.... it's rather scary.... You don't have to be a poor person to be in debt up to your eyeballs believe me... You'd be surprised how many with six figure incomes are barely making ends meet, because of credit card debt.....

I am, therefore I create.......
