THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Why are people compelled to write poems in their uploads?

MoonGoat ( ) posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 8:00 PM ยท edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 12:16 AM

Not that most of it isn't lovely poetry, it's just that I'm wondering if it all is just some brilliant scam to roll in votes and so on. Chances are it's simply just a pretty addition that artists add to compliment the picture, being an art community and all. Maybe I'll start adding some of my infinite and sage wisdom to my uploads in poetry form.

Some people build their art around stories, be it the religious, history, fantasy, sci-fi and so on. Sometimes, its stories theyve read and sometimes around stories they themselves have created. Some artists are inspired by prose, like Hallmark cards, folk sayings, poems and musical lyrics. Adding these to their work often extenuates it and gives the viewer a sense of where the art came from, like a footnote or a caption.

My complaint is the gallery uploads that show a really strikingly beautiful image and then below it, the creator gets on their soap box and tells of all the horrible things that have made them angry for that day. I really get turned off by that the most.

Hard to say MG...I probably write as much if not more than I create in 3D so a lot of times if I am creating an image and I like it it will simutaneously inspire me to write words as well. Other times the pic is an illustration for the words, works both ways. Would you think it odd if someone who was a writer and submitted to the writers forum included an illustration with the poem or story?

Birddie ( ) posted Tue, 15 March 2005 at 2:34 AM

I can see if the poem goes along with the artwork though, then, that's understandable. What I don't like sometimes is the different colored text they use, makes it hard to read the words. :)

there once was a man from nantucket.... lol I used to write poetry and songs with guitar music to boot! one Im particularly fond of has the line "take me away to somewhere else, be it heaven or hell...just take me away..." ( an extremely depressed period of my life) (yep gotta whole bunch of them... poems and songs that is...) I salute those who effectively combine there prose with an image from bryce. :) my .02 BT

Well, I don't really mind poems as long as the poem doesn't take up more space than the image does. :)

Lol. I think my favorite was from a pic a couple years ago... "There once was a city named Larry, Was attacked by a two ton canary! THe feathers all flewn the canary was slewn, And life ain't a bowl full of cheeries." I had help with that one.
