Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 4:12 am)
really not sure? probably contct e-on is your best bet. off the top of my head I'm going to say that you're screwed though. i believe (but not sure) that Vue only uses the second processor when rendering, to get it up and running you need the master processor to be the min req... again I'm only guessing here,.. contact e-on :)
Hexagon, Carrara, Sculptris, and recently Sketchup.
"I am running with a G4 Dual 1 Gig processors - does this mean I'm screwed?" No, I doubt it. System requirements aren't usually carved in stone. I'm not sure if Vue can use both of your processors but if it can you've probably got a faster system than the minimum specs anyway. The first thing I'd try is remove every trace of Vue from your HD including the installer (keep the original zip/sit though!)and make sure you've emptied the trash. then try installing again. If that doesn't work I'd contact Eon and see what they have to say and maybe download the demo again. If it installed though I doubt whether the file is corrupt. Still you never know! Good luck! Oh yeah, how much RAM have you got? - Baz
What os version are you using? I run Vue 5 on a single G4 with only 768 MHz without a problem. So as Baz said, the requirements are not carved in stone. What could be the problem here is that the demo version was created on an older OS version than yours. There were problems like that before sometimes. It is a shame how Apple changes OS things constantly so that some programs does not run anymore when there is an even mnor OS release. But i guess of course. Contact E-on if it is not running, and let them know about your system things as well. So that they have a chance...

Here's my specs: System: OS Panther 10.3.4 Dual 1 Gig CPU 1.5 Gig RAM L2 cache 256 kb per processor L3 cache 2 mb per processor Bus speed 133 Thanks for all the info so far - it gives me hope that I won't have to replace this computer yet! OY - I just finished paying it off! ;) I have contacted e-on but probably won't get an answer until Monday or Tuesday. I was a little freaked-out by this, so I really appreciate all your help. Baz - About the wipe-clean uninstall - do you mean I should even take Vue4 off the Mac also before trying the Vue5 demo again? -Cathy
No, i have 3 different Vue versions running on my Mac at the moment. Without any problem. What i have realised is, that sometimes Vue can have difficulties with other applications running the same time. I have more problems when i do some very old games that run under classic. Or have Yahoo messenger open the same time. This can cause problems but never as much that Vue does not start. Only a crash could happen. Probably memory conflicts.

Well, it is interesting that in another thread - someone asked for an opinion about Mac or PC version - the overall answer was Mac. More stable, faster on the dual G5 machines etc etc. Seems that it is running on other setups. As it is on mine. That normally brings me to the point to look for differences between machines. And settings.

Yeah I know - I was a respondent on that very thread and I also touted my Mac's abilities. Until this odd demo problem popped-up I've had zero issues with it. I can honestly say that my Mac's the workhorse of the two and stable as a rock. I still suspect there's something wrong with the demo itself. I'll see as soon as the upgrade arrives! Now I REALLY can't wait! ;)
Okay - E-on came through with the fix and everything's working fine now. For anyone with a Mac that ever has this problem: Go to the "Library Folder" on your Mac's Hard Drive, open it and look for the "Application Support" folder, open that and find the file "Vue5Trial.reg" and delete it. Then try running the program again. Make sure there are no hidden spaces before or after the reg number when you enter it. That's ALL there was to it! AMAZING!

Sorry to bother you folks again, but I've run into a problem. My Mac demo installs but won't run. I noticed that on E-on's System Requirements they have Mac 1.25 Processor - I am running with a G4 Dual 1 Gig processors - does this mean I'm screwed? Or is the demo possibly currupt?
