Well I finished it, the ancient city building set for Vue 5 is ready. The set comes with 13 ready to use buildings (a fortress, temple, palace, 8 housing blocks and 2 other rows of houses). Included also is a city wall / fortress building set with 3 types of towers, a wall section and 3 types of gates. The housing blocks and rows are created from 'modules'(entrance, corners, house parts) which can be used to create your own housing block / row variations. All of the items use original materials and the whole set comes with over 40 building items and over 40 materials (wall, floor, marble, roads, roofs, landscape materials). It has not completely been decided how the ancient city building set for Vue 5 will be released to the public, I'm still negociating with other parties about this. Once I've got final details on the release I'll let you all know! Attached you'll see an example city rendered in Vue 5. Settings, ultra 800x600 in less then 20 mins. More images will be following.

YOU MADE AN INCREDIBLE WORK!!! i think that stuff to be a awesome stuff must be rework on textures... models is great but maps need works...

aeilkema ( ) posted Wed, 16 March 2005 at 1:40 PM

Thanks! It's all procedural materials, no textures used at all. If needed/wanted the user can replace them quite easily with his/her own textures or materials. I'll consider your recommendation for sure and see what can be done about it.

I think the problem with the maps is that they are all a little too large for the models. Maybe reducing the mapping size will make them look a little more natural. I agree with everyone else, these look very nice congrats! eric

The materials need serious work. Mostly they are far too big, which makes the buildings look like little models. The ground material for the streets is not appropriate; when would you ever have random patches of grass all over every street and courtyard? Streets would most likely be paved, and if not, they would be mostly stony and any grass would be in defined areas, not random throughout. The lowest picture looks very strange. Are those trails of blood all over the floor? That's what it looks like. The upper stone texture looks like no building I've ever seen. Sorry to be negative unlike all the people above, but if you are going to be commercial, you need to have the unvarnished truth even if it's unflattering.
