Should perhaps add that this is all Bryce5, except for some very moderate color corrections in Photoshop.

CrazyDawg ( ) posted Wed, 16 March 2005 at 10:32 PM

Nice modelling Rochr. Other than missing streetlight covers, which could be getting cleaned ;) there is only one problem with it. I can't get it because we don't get Digital Creative Arts mag here in West Australia. Never mind, just another model/tut i'll miss out on because of this stupid country i live in.

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

Wow! All in Bryce too...awesome...all the more reason to love it.

Has the world gone completely gay? All the men here want each others babies...geeeeeeez! What ever happened to love you long time then start having babies? 8)
P.S. Around here, streetlight covers get shot out to keep it romantic at night. Nothing like a little realism! LOL

I skipped those covers, hollowed the lamps, and added lightbulbs in there instead. Although it doesnt show very good here... :)

Erlik ( ) posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 4:23 AM

It's 5.99 pounds per issue, Zhann, something like $75 for a year. Issue 17? Their site says issue 12 is out now. Five issues in advance? BTW, how big the magazine is? Hmmm, they say they've got a distributor for Croatia... BTW, foley, the sky usually is darker in window reflections, as far as I know. Sometimes quite a lot darker, depending on the angle of light.

not to mention the tinting of the glass.

foleypro ( ) posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 9:59 AM

I agree on the tinting and the Angle but it is still to dark...Sky Box could have been used with different Photographs of the sky taken at the same time.... But who am I to say anything...Rudy is the one who got published and I havent yet...

Now how big are the models on something like this? are they real tiny? and you zoom in with the camera? Or are they so large that you just move the camera around? I've never done a complex scene like this so I dont know how to even begin doing something like that.

Erlik ( ) posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 12:54 PM

Think big. And I mean BIG. Like, the default ground plane is a tiny little square down below. But you have to adjust the fog and haze settings when you create really big, otherwise even the middle distance will be completely hazed. Also, you might want to turn the clouds off, cause they go up to a certain height and no more, so you could get clouds in the middle of a building. :-) Use a photo instead.

Erlik: Thanks one of these days i'll tackle the idea of making something like this I have a lot to learn.

AgentSmith ( ) posted Fri, 18 March 2005 at 1:54 AM

Thanks guys. :) To follow up on Erliks responce, the models are fairly large compared to the default groundplane. And the atmosphere used here is "Caribbean Clear", with 5 radial lights set up like above, and a photo backdrop with all shadows unchecked. Which explains why theres no reflection in the windows... :)

Erlik ( ) posted Fri, 18 March 2005 at 3:53 PM

You confused me with that "shadows unchecked" and "no reflection". but then I gathered it refers to the backdrop plane. You could have used a spherical sky and had reflections. :-) Why not?
