Thanks Daz for upgradeing the Dragon,Looks really fantastic now. Now If I could find some more textures for it:)

wonder if this has anything to do with the Animal Planet Dragons special? I mean it wouldn't be unheard of for Discovery to dump a bucket of $$ onto Daz's lap to update their dragon and use it, and it's known that Disc/TLC has used poser figures in the past. Or not, It could just be good business sense to coordinate the realse to 'catch the new hype' so to speak.

I think it's just coincidence, personally. Daz has been working on the dragon for a while, and Mcfarlane announced it's dragon toy series months ago as well. (they are in stores now) McFarlane is also doing a Dragon series II as well. It's a cyclical sort of thing.. there was Disney's Dragonslayer, and then Dragonheart, then Reign of Fire, and now this cycle. Every year or two, we get more Dragonny goodness. It's be nice to see the Curio's Majestic Dragon either go on sale, or get an update of some sort, since he's one of the top 2 poser dragons, IMHO.

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Lyrra did some great free textures for the mil. dragon, and this new version is supposed to accept existing texture maps. Her web site is at the link if you don't have these.

yea I kind of thought of the cyclical thing as well, but it's fun to think up of these conspericyish type things [think Mcfarlane is in on it too ;) ] I guess everything kinda goes in cycles like that, next season it'll be space guys or something. It just takes one forward thinker to get the cycle started and to the rest it's just good business to ride the wave.

I did some test renders with the East Dragon last night, it also looks mighty fine. I hope that some talented texture artists will be inspired to create more textures for it. The default one is very nice, but variety is even nicer.

Tucan-Tiki ( ) posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 2:58 PM

I saw some really great textures over at PFO once, If I recall correctly one of the texture was of a yellow dragon, they were very detailed and very nice textures, Pure works of art. But I cant find them anywhere now.... By the way lets have a dragon show here, Show off your fine Dragon Steeds:)

I started work on some yesterday but I'm painting the scales individually on parts so don't know how long it'll take in the copious amount of free time I have lately ;-)

I'm working on the EastDragon right now ....

xoconostle ( ) posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 6:28 PM

"I'm working on the EastDragon right now ...." That's great news. Is this an independent project, or will it be a PoserWorld item? No problem if you haven't decided yet. Good luck, I'm happy to hear it's on your plate. :-)

Nice render, I'm loving the new Mil Dragon too!

Tucan-Tiki, are these the ones you are thinking of? (If they are, thanks!) I had these up at the old PFO Freestuff about 5 years ago. (Back when the Zygote Dragon was $120!) I don't have them up right now, but they'll probably go up when I finish my new textures for the New Mil Dragon. ;) They'll be a while though, never seem to have enough time these days.......

well I have a product under progress for the MilDrag which will be offerred to DAZ if they want it... as well as updating my free textures to include the new bits and bobs. but the EastDragon needs more colors than just blue :) the default texture is really nice .. but .... I want RED and black and pearlescent and gold and ...... dont hold your breathe though .. I'm hip deep in work like usual and not working 7 days a week anymore (new boyfriend)

Tucan-Tiki ( ) posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 8:13 PM

yes those are the textures I knew we had someone here telepathic who knew what I was talking about.

Tucan-Tiki ( ) posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 8:15 PM

My favorite one is the one in the top left with the yellow spots:)

randym77 ( ) posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 8:51 PM

Coldrake, those are truly stunning!

Blackhearted ( ) posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 10:32 PM

Tucan-Tiki ( ) posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 11:50 PM

Here is the final outcome after mixing two different texture sets on the dragon

randym77 ( ) posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 11:55 PM

Wow. That is some pic!

coldrake ( ) posted Fri, 18 March 2005 at 1:42 AM

Wow! The second image looks great, definately wicked looking. "My favorite one is the one in the top left with the yellow spots:)" Yeah, I think that was the most popular one. :) Thanks randym77! Those were my first ventures into creating texture maps. The new ones will be a lot more complicated, I've learned a lot since I made those. ;) Coldrake
