Subject: Saving e-on Tutorials?

krimpr ( ) posted Fri, 18 March 2005 at 7:03 AM ยท edited Sun, 26 January 2025 at 4:47 PM

Probably a dumb question, but is it possible to save those Flash introduction tutorials on their website? Right clicking doesn't give any save options nor does my browser (Internet Explorer) I was hoping to hear that they were on the 2nd CD, but that wasn't mentioned in the thread below. Thanks.

I would like to do the same thing. Under help in Vue Infinite you have the following. (Look at attached image)What I would love to do, if it can be done, is save the flash tutorials from E-on's site under the other tutorial(inside the green aria). Can it be done?

1- open the tutorial in your browser
2- select 'view source'
3- scroll down until you see something like : <embed src="...
4- Copy the path between quotes after 'src'
5- Back to your browser, paste the path in the address bar, with 'http://www.e-onsoftware.com' in front and press Enter
6- That should open just the flash movie in your browser. Under 'File -> Save As' you will be able to save it where you want.

As for having them displayed in the menu, I would try to find out where the kickstart shockwave file is stored in the Vue folders and copy your files there.

Sorry for the mess - my post #3 is having an unexpected influence on the rest of the page. I contacted the admins to have it cleaned up.

I have just started to save them sothat they open in vue under the tutorial link. I seem to be getting somewhere, but will post how I did it here soon. Thanks for your help with the other bit, as the way I am doing it now, I have to go into my tempory internet files and copy/past the .swf file into the Vue help file.

Hmmm. I got as far as opening the animations in my browser but no "save as" option is available. Do you think you could use your influence with the e-on guys to post a link for downloading them for us? I like Belgareth's idea of installing them in the help directory for quick reference. Thanks for what you have done agiel; krimpr.

Hey; how'd you do that Belgareth? I copied in the address into my address bar as per agiel's instruction, and got to the proper page, but can't save it... what gives?

I cannot save myself. This is how I am doing it...You have to go into your temp internet files and copy then paste the .swf file into the help file in Vue. In my case Vue Infinite. Here are some pictures to show you how to put the Multi Eco-System tutorial into the help files. However, the little box that pops up explaining what you have to do dose flash a bit, but one can live with that.

Thank you both :)

I am using Firefox... maybe that is why I can save it. I didn't try with IE. The Internet Cache was a pretty good idea too ! :)

Belgareth ( ) posted Fri, 18 March 2005 at 11:02 AM

I wasn't too sure it would work, but it dose, though I am not sure if E-on might have a problem with me/us doing this. Maybe krimpr was right in asking if e-on would be willing to place it on their site for download, or better still, include it in an update, if posible. Should we/I ask?
