Subject: I Really Must Suck Or......

I need more Boob shots in my gallery. Wonder if I'd do better with a few Vicky renders instead of Aiko? lmao. :)

Aiko's cool!! I like the new one in your gallery! Gotta keep experimenting and stuff! You'll get the views and comments! Fear not!! Mind you, isn't the creative process more important????? ;) Later! G

true heh. I'm working on some V3 renders as well. I like a bit of varity in my gallery. Vic is harder to conform though pain in the rear. ;)

Checked out your gallery, two pictures so far just within the past week. That's a short time. My recommendation would be don't focus on the numbers yet. Focus on what your want. What do you want to do with your pictures. What do you want to say to other's by taking the time to pose a digital character and put it/her/him over a background. If you're trying to make contact with other human beings by arranging pixels in some manner, that is what will draw hits. IMHO. Keep at it, its not an instant high.

I'm never sure what I want to do in a scene though.

Two cents worth from a near-noob. Your rendering skills are fine. In fact they're more than fine based on the images you have posted. Your thumbnails, however, are not. You compressed a rectangular image into a square one, distorting it. Try cropping out an interesting 200x200 pixel snippet of your image as your thumbnail next time. People are more likely to view something with an intriguing thumbnail. If you post the entire image, you've saved them the trouble of clicking on it. Go browse the galleries and see which thumbnails (or titles or whatever) make YOU want to click on them. Sneaky, but it seems to work for almost all the "biggies". Lots more "tips" can be found in the thread listd above (not to be taken too seriously).

My gallery has images ranging from 1135 to 65 viewings. My personal favorite image has 117 viewings. Am I any good? No, not really. I sometimes have some good ideas and I'm getting better at executing on them. But I sure do enjoy myself.

Art is a funny thing. Stick to what you like to do. Make it as diverse or as focussed as you want. Most of the people who pull down really huge view numbers do very focussed work, and have an established viewership. And their comments sections are almost nothing but "applause". But there are also amazing artists out there with galleries full of sub-100 view images and hardly a comment. Decide who you want to be and go after it. It will come.

I haven't mastered the art of thumbnails yet at all! When I do a thumb they turnout like this. I just did a few V3 renders, since it's the weekend, I get to play with poser a little more. I just want atleast 3 good renders for my gallery, I'm not out to spatter it just yet. heh. :)

At least you have something in your gallery :) I'm too embarassed to put anything up here yet. I'm still really new to Poser and it's all I can do to get clothing to fit. I'm still working on figuring out how to get things to fit when the character is not in an upright position... and they all need shoes which I find IMPOSSIBLE to fit, lol Also due to personal issues, Im at an all time creative low these past several months, so all I've been able to muster is making tubes for a few PSP groups I'm in... basically Ive been playing dress up dolly :) But I'm getting bored with that and need to get back into PSP and do something with some of these figures I've made. I don't think you necessarily need to put boobs into your gallery. Maybe just a change of genre. Try working with Vicky, or Michael, or even doing some abstracts with fractals (loves fractals :) ). Variety is the key to keeping up interest not only in yourself but also in your gallery viewers.

able to know ourselves fully as we are, especially the evil side of us.

At least you have something in your gallery :) I'm too embarassed to put anything up here yet. Go for it!! Never be embarassed to put art up! What I do is dress the figure first then pose. Easier that way. I like the posing part more than filling out a scene. I just put the WIP I made up in my gallery of V3. Trying to get a better shot of it. I hate to tell ya how many hours that took me to make. ;)

oh..don't worry 'bout it..I put up everything; good, bad, and just plain ugly..;) later, you can weed out the ones that didn't have a good response. Heck, if I left everything up, I'd have 300 or more pics..the longer things go on, the better it makes you look.

check Willdial and Boobrepli here , if you actually serious about your previous comments, if you want morphs in the 'Soviet Hero Mother' size..;)

Never, ever be afraid to post a render, as long as it's within the TOS. This is a very friendly place. If you want criticism, ask for it. And be prepared to accept it. Or request people IM you with their comments when you're just getting started. All in all, a more supportive group of folks you'd be hard pressed to find. Remember: you can always remove an image from your gallery. But first you have to post it.

almeidap ( ) posted Sun, 20 March 2005 at 12:39 PM

Stick with Aiko!!! I looked at both of your Aiko pics, I liked the concepts but they looked a little rushed (like I'm one to talk). I'm currently going Aiko crazy, first it was Koshini, then Animedoll, then Alexa, then Girl, now I'm all about Aiko. I do suggest trying other figures from time to time, somehow each time I switch charecters I think I get better...or at least the views do. :)

deci6el ( ) posted Sun, 20 March 2005 at 6:32 PM

Birddie; "I'm never sure what I want to do in a scene though. "

It's less about the destination and more about the journey. Sorry, that sounds so "dime store philosophy" but you are really in a great place.
There you are with a virtual world at your fingertips and you can do what ever YOU want. Any painter who has stared at a blank canvas knows how daunting that can be, (for me all that emptiness is very scary) but when you realize it's just about your choice it's really Freedom. Don't like what you chose? Choose again. And keep asking yourself "What do I want?" It's your Universe.

This is sounding kind of preachy over-the-top but you're in a perfectly normal place now, I'm just trying to nudge you into the next space that comes after it. cheers

I've read that if you dress the figure first, then add textures, morph changes and the like, you get more desirable results. Of course you may be past that, I am rather new in the poser world but I try my best. I find that a certain item can give me the inspiration for a render (5 or 6 ideas in the works b/c of different freebies I've found).

Birddie ( ) posted Sun, 20 March 2005 at 9:23 PM

I love Aiko the best for a figure! I just need more stuff for her. I'm not finding the right Anime props to make i more realistic. It's too expensive to keep buying everything, lol. I'll do a few more V3's before I go back to Aiko. :)

I know how you feel sometimes, but number of views is not a measure of quality. It's really more of a measure of how appealing the thumbnail is. My most-viewed image was an early test render made with pure stock objects, just testing out the Poser 5 features. Its secret? Cleavage in the thumbnail. My most recent offering was the result of lots of texture work, composited renders, careful hairwork, etc. I'm very happy with it, but in my gallery posting... nothing, zippo, very few views. I can't blame folks, of course. I'm far more likly to click on a nipple than a nose. But it is enough to make me want to add one more "nude Vickie in the temple frolicking with the dolphin" to the deluge, just to get some notice. But in the end, I'm far happier with my later, unremarked work than the much-viewed cleavage render. I made something I liked, and that was enough.
