Does anyone know of a source for BVH files whether free or for purchase?

Daz has quite a few sets of them for various of their figures.

Still available.

and yet another rabbit comes outta the hat! Thanks LD. That file at Stanford had over 250 BVH files in it. The hip is at Zero-Y, so not quite "Poser ready", but still a ton of everyday motions.

These replies are just GREAT! Sincere thanks to all.

I downloaded the Stanford bvh motions, and there are a lot, but when I use them with V3, the shoulders/collars are all "hunched up" on the model (as well as the figure standing below the "floor"). Does anybody know an easy fix for this? Thanks--T

Yep. Meet your friend and savior, Mr. Graph Editor. Do a forum search on the topic and you should find the previous discussions, also, one of Geep's tutorials deals with it. But in a nutshell, you use the graph editor to alter one parameter (like y trans on the hip) across the entire animation.

odeathoflife: Thank you very much! www.bvhfiles.com is a very good place. Thanks again!

Thanks for the tip on the graph editor, DaleB. I can see how it would help, however, I'm having no luck finding the tutorial you're talking about--could you point me there if you have a second? Barring that, is there a way to select multiple points in the graph editor, that is, can I select the entire curve and move the whole thing down? Thanks--T

Dale B ( ) posted Tue, 22 March 2005 at 8:37 PM

It's easy. (1)Pick the value you want to adjust (let's say Ytrans on the hip). (2)Place the cursor in the graph window, hold down right click on your mouse, and drag the cursor. A black field should be drawn on the graph. All the points in this blackened area will be affected at the same time. (3)If the field doesn't cover all the points you want, simply hold down 'Shift' and either right click and drag one side or the other to cover them, or hold shift and left click; this will move expand the black field to where the cursor is. (4)You'll notice that the cursor changes shape in the graph window depending on where it is, and what key or button you hold down. If you move the cursor into the black field, it should turn into two small, horizontal lines with arrows at either end. If you right or left click and hold while the cursor is there, and slide the mouse, you will move all the keyframes in that field left or right on the timeline, shifting a motion earlier or later in the sequence. (5)To make a vertical adjustment, place the cursor in the field, hold down control. The double horizontal lines should turn into double vertical lines. Just click in the field and move the mouse up and down (while still holding down control), and you should see all the keyframes in the area shift up and down.

Thanks--works great! I couldn't find this in the P5 manual--I think they're hiding it.--T

Dale B ( ) posted Wed, 23 March 2005 at 7:56 AM

You might be amazed at all the stuff that isn't in the manual. Poser is like a chinese puzzle box...or that funky cube out of Hellraiser. You never know what may be there hiding (PhilC had to show it to me; I never saw it, either :P ).
