Subject: Vue 4 bites my ass!

Ok, I feel better getting that off my chest. My V4 won't import a danged thing. No PZ3, no LWO, no OBJ. Weak underpowered program. What the crap do I own it for??? Someone please tell me V5I does a better job. If it pulls the same crap, I'm going to go nuts.

I could be wrong, but I believe you have to go to Eon's website and download the 4.2 update to be able to import pz3 files.

Are you sure you are using 'Import object' instead of 'Load Object' ? Also mae sure you have installed the latest update as Shari suggested. I have had Vue 4 for years and had no problem importing pz3 and obj files (not sure about LWO).

I'm running 4.2. I didn't really expect PZ3 files (would have been nice) but at least some OBJ or LWO. It just hangs. I've reinstalled, defragged, everything I can think of. It's ridiculous. Not to mention the think won't even open VOB files that *it created. Worthless.

I think you should start comparing your system with others. As you can see in the gallery the program works for hundreds and thousands others so there must be a difference.

well i can safely say that something weird is going on for you, if it cant even open vob files..... And that something isnt due to the application itself. I mean vue4 is and have been rock solid for quite some time and thousands of pepople are using it without problems, you should be able to open vob files and obj files, even pz3 files. So no its not the application as wabe said, but something else going on, and yes v5I is obviously even better but i woudnt recomend you buying it if v4 cant even open vob files for you, reinstall and check your system, something else is seriously wrong for you.

Vue 4 I had no problems importing poser files, obj, 3ds. As others stated, you have something seriously wrong somewhere. Can you try to install on another computer and see if it works? That way you can eleminate bad disks. If the disks are okay, then its somewhere in your computer. Only thing I can think of to narrow down the source of the problem.

This is the second compter I had installed it on. It's never been the rock solid application for me that others talk about. I tried the V5 demo. Now THAT seems rock solid. Much faster as well. Although, I really need to try V5I before I but. Come on Q2! Some quick specs: Dual Opteron 1.8s, 2 gigs ram, ATI 9800 128 megs. V5 seems to love this setup, whereas V4 seems to freak out when doing anything more than rendering a blank atmosphere.

i'm running 1.7 processor 768 of ram 120 hard drive 160 dump drive slaved and vue 4 is the best bit of creative software i've ever run on the damned thing..seems to me its a comp thing for you..i even have a nvidia graphics card thats pretty old and i know vue like's radion cards coz thats whats on my lap and its even better on there..so i think you got a real crappy install problem going on ..maybe a faulty disc..you can always ask for a new copy..and try that..sorry its not working out for you..

Look at the users forum on e-onsoftware's website. I think I remember reading about files missing in one of their versions - that could explain your issues. If this is the case, all you have to do is ask for the files.

I have Vue 4......although I've only used it once since I upgraded to Vue 4 Pro over a year ago. I never had a problem importing .pz3's into V4. No problems at all. In fact, my good experience with V4 was the thing that convinced me to spring for Vue 4 Pro. I'm glad that I did. I'll be even "glad-er" when Vue Infinite arrives.

I have vue 4 installed on 12 computers, on one I had to renstall it twice. Try removing it and restalling it Dale

richardnovak77 ( ) posted Tue, 22 March 2005 at 8:51 PM

Hmm... seems like I'm the only one with problems. Well, no matter. V5 seems to really work well, and fast, and V5I seems like it'll be pretty amazing too. Thanks all!

Your OS may be the problem, most of my problems went away when I got rid of W98, and moved to XP.
