I think so. Zygote stuff is VERY high end and is used for professional purposes, such as medical illustration, motion pictures, and so on.

seems strange because it's for sale near stuff that is free.

$9,995.00 probably is difficult for Zygote to sell unless they have reliable source to medical community. You probably can use money for other fancy instruments to make like it.

Wow. And I thought that Turbosquid was pricey........... Sorry. I'd rather buy a new car with the money.

Or several copies of Lightwave.

That's some hellacious cost for 45MB of file (I could see if it were 450MB or 4.5GB). I'm sorry, but who do they think most of their customer-base is? Bill Gates, Michael Jackson, Rupert Murdock? ;) This is definitely aimed solely at the Medical industry - they're the only ones whose salaries could justify the cost to quality ratio. LightWave? I'd buy Maya Unlimited and still have a few thousand to blow on plugins for it! :)

Content Paradise? ... more like Content Hell!

Staby ( ) posted Tue, 22 March 2005 at 2:48 AM

Definitely out of my range... :( I'm very sorry... I hoped for a more Poser friendly price.

it's nice but not that nice.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

When I get a contract to do the illustrations for a biology textbook, or I decide to produce a feature film with CGI, I'll consider it. It is very well made. I have NO idea why it's on Content Paradise, however. bonni

The galleon is .99 and looks to be a handsome model. I suspect that as CP expands there will be an entire range of items in all price categories for everyone from hobbyist to professional. As to the price of the anatomy COLLECTION, yes, you can get a Maya seat for that amount. Then you can spend the next 18 months learning Maya and however long to accurately model all the bones, cartilege, ogans, nerves, and muscles. When was your deadline again? How much is your time valued at? If something is out of your price range, don't quibble just don't buy it. DAZ with the Platinum Club took the bottom out of this user's market so that many artists don't earn anywhere near what their time is worth. A professionally made model is worth this sort of price to professionals. Not all Poser users are hobbyists, after all! Just because an item is cheap doesn't mean it lacks quality... same in reverse. So you look to your needs (not just your desires) and see what something is worth to you at that moment. Remember also that Content Paradise may not really be set up for us old-timers, but for all the newbies who get this program at CompUSA or order it through MacMall or PCConnection. Someone doing courtroom forensics or teaching at a hospital or whatever is not going to be lurking around these forums waiting for bargains to be announced or freestuff uploaded. Carolly

Staby ( ) posted Tue, 22 March 2005 at 8:28 AM

Well Carolly, obviously I didn't expect a Platinum Club price :). I agree that these are hi res quality items, but $9,995.00 (soon $14,000.00) in one time... I would/could spend some $$$ for the poserized version if they split the collection in smaller parts though... Didn't they use to sell them separately?

kuroyume0161 ( ) posted Tue, 22 March 2005 at 9:03 AM

18 months or $9995.00? I'd rather save the $9995.00! ;0)

I think I would hire my friend who is modeler and he could make it for less than they already have it set at.

GWeb ( ) posted Tue, 22 March 2005 at 8:50 PM

No doubt :) I am sure your friend can buy a fancy digitizer to 'reverse engineer' the skeleton.

You might be able to use the Visible Human Project data for that.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Tue, 22 March 2005 at 9:31 PM

BTW, the local bones shop has a few real human skeletons (legal, former medical models). They run $3-5,000 depending upon condition. Getting a complete set of organs to scan will be trickier, though.

AntoniaTiger ( ) posted Wed, 23 March 2005 at 1:17 AM

There's a lot more to the price than just an expensive-to-make model with a limited market. If you are doing that sort of illustration work, the model, and the artist, needs to be good enough to be relied on. Go bend Posette's elbow, watch what happens, and ask uourself if you want a Doctor working on your elbow who would have used Posette to learn what was right.

kuroyume0161 ( ) posted Wed, 23 March 2005 at 1:48 AM

That doesn't make any sense. Look, for the type of illustrative work and alleged quality of the product (44.6MB seems slightly rudimentary to me, but it could be a misprint or amazing detailed quality for the size) - maybe $995 would pique my interest. This is obviously aimed at a market where a medical practitioner of whatever type is willing to foot a bill of some tens of thousands of dollars for the 3D CG work - or it isn't worth the initial investment, now is it? $14,000 on a 44.6MB 3D file is, well let's say, extravagant. Until I hear and see evidence to the contrary, I'll leave that range of pricetag to the studios and professionals with investment capital. :)
