Hi guys - just tried opening my Poser 5 and keep getting this message "Parse Error : not well-formed at line 20" then it shuts down! Anyone know anything about this or have and ideas on what this means. God I hope it's not stuffed, I've only had it a few months :( Karen

Karen, It means you need to install the latest service pack available at Curious Labs website. :-)

Does it "specifically" mean that though - is that what the error message means"? As I've been using it all day and then had an hour break - powered up again and got that message. I'm in CL's now looking at the site to see if it had anything here - saw the "Poser 5 - Service Release 4.1 Application Updater" is this the one you mean? I've downloaded tons of content over the past 2 months.. will this effect that by downloading the update. If that error message I received means I need to install the update - why on earth didn't it say that LOL. THANKS HEAPS - Karen

Open the file Curious LabsPoser 5RuntimeprefsLibraryPrefs.xml with a plain text editor (like notepad). Look on line 20, and I bet you'll find it references a library path with an ampersand (& character). Older versions of P5 would die if a library with an & in it's path was referenced in the LibraryPrefs.xml file. Update to the newest version and your problem should go away.

Your right TikiGawd - I have a look at the file you mentioned and this is exactly in line 20! And although it's been in my poser downloads for about 2 weeks - this afternoon was the FIRST time I'd used that in P5. It was immediately after that, I rebooted (as system was slow) and when I went to bring up Poser I got that error message! I'll download the SR4 now and see if that solves the prob! you guys are a fountain of knowledge! Karen

Ok well that didn't come through - the line was 50s&60s pin up poses! That's what contained in line 20. Karen

Just downloaded the SR4 - rebooted then brought up Poser 5, I got the "same error message" but this time it allowed me into the program instead of crashing the system. Hopefully this means the prob is fixed with the SR4 but it's still recognising something is wrong with the line 20 "&" symbol. Bizzare!
