It seems like there are alotta Daz promos here lately. But if Daz is paying a fee to advertise here, I guess it's fair enough to other merchants who get their posts moved to the product showcase forum. But it would be a drag if things degenerated to the bad old days, when every other post was a promo of some kind.

mateo - I don't see any DAZ promos here. I do see happy customers giving others the heads up, though. Same as I - and others - spread the word about BATLAB's freebies; we ain't allied to either, just letting people know.

mateo sancarlos...I wasn't paid a cent to make this post! I'm just excited over these fantastic deals and thought others might be too...if I missed them, I would be bummed out big time, so might others be...if it was a sale of this magnitude for any merchant, I'd do the same thing...

Right. This was clarified again very recently by hauksdottir; Members are allowed to share their enthusiasm for products or promos that they find to be of value or interest. The prohibition is on merchants advertising their own stuff here. As others have said, such threads, while "commercial" appearing, are often appreciated by those who wouldn't otherwise know about good products or promos. I never would have known about face_off's subsurface scattering scripts if I hadn't read about them here. I'm grateful, as the "Hyperreal" product I bought has enhanced some of my renders and offered a bit more insight into the Materials Room. On the other hand, I do feel that at times it's a bit much ... the "I posted today's special first!" thing is tiresome, if ultimately harmless. In my opinion the only real "problem" with this and pretty much all the Poser forums in the past few months is that there seems to have been a big increase in off-topic chatter and pointless negativity. This tends to distract and rob space from the helpful on-topic threads, but so long as people aren't violating TOS, there's not much you can do about that but try to contribute in a positive or useful fashion more than you whine, scandal-monger, or play "cop." I'd much rather see people get excited about a big sale than throw a misguided moralistic hissy fit because someone somewhere rendered a boy at the beach with his shirt off. :-) Encouraging self-moderation and discretion in posting is probably all we can do when it comes to the perceived excesses of our fellow members. The recent trend to demand thread moves or deletions is ridiculous. Let the moderators do their job, I say. If you don't care for a thread, it's easy to move on to another.

Well I'm a thoroughly happy camper, I put off getting back into the platinum club to order Poser 6 today - then I was over there to get Trixie and found out what tomorrow's special is! It's not often you get to have your cake and eat it too. There's some nice stuff for $2 - and tomorrow it's mine, all mine!

Although, as a PC member who pays for exclusivity, I think that this is the 4th time in the last year that something like this has happened. Coupled with the lack of regular PC releases (something only fixed recently after months of complaining) I do wonder if I'll ever go for an annual subscription again. As someone in the DAZ forums pointed out, he was able to buy all the PC items he'd ever wanted (65 items for 130) - 65 items over the last year cost me 230.

Yes, DAZ has made it clear that they will regularly open the PC to everyone. If all you want is $1.99 items, and you have a little patience, you might as well drop your PC membership and just wait for the PC-for-free promotions.

Me, I'll probably stay in, for at least awhile longer. The 30% off on DAZ originals, the $5 voucher, the $0.99 sales, and the bonus pack freebies more than cover the $70 annual fee.

I already considered quiting pc membership for a period of time now, but from time to time I decided not too do so. Now I'm going to quit definitely. I do hardly us the 30% off, have a hard time spending the $5 voucher, all I want is the $1.99 items. Somehow I feel cheated, since those are pc member items and anyone can access them for the same price as I do. No point of being a member anymore.

If my memory (and documentation) serve me well, thet the Haunted Mansion was once a PC club item? Now, only some textures are in the pc. My experience with Turkish and North-African bazaars helps me to keep my eyes open. Anyways: this is a great offer. Saves me becoming a member for one month.

The Haunted Mansion is still a Platinum Club item. It's probably not showing up as one for you, because you've already bought it. That's a feature of the new store. You don't see the PC price once you've purchased the item.
