Subject: V3 questions...

momodot ( ) posted Mon, 28 March 2005 at 11:50 PM · edited Sat, 01 February 2025 at 3:56 AM

What happens when you use V3 poses on V2. Is it possible to put V3 clothes on V2 by reboning either the clothes or theV2 with the free V3 base from DAZ. Iwould check but my download speed is awefull and I would not be able to run V3 any how (I am contemplating V3RR but honestly I am not real motived to spend the money. Anyone tried fitting V3 clothes to V2? I am wondering if I could use V3 clothes on V2 somehow. I don't really understand the differences between V3 and V2. I'm still on my Posette kick and I think my next purchas will be th3 P4FemMagic stuff from the MP.

The poses generally work ok, (V3 & M3 do not have "upper necks" though - just head & neck like Posette). Haven't done the reboning thing for the clothes, but have just re-scaled and forced them close enough to fit for stills (as opposed to animations). If you haven't already, you really-really ought to grab V3 & M3 while they are still available free. (I'm on dialup and I just let it DL while I crashed.) They are truly HUGE when fully injected but they do work fine in P4 (with XPp,P4-2GHz,1Mb RAM here) and you're bound to upgrade your system eventually, and you'll probably wish you had'em someday.

Ditto. I downloaded V3 on dialup, took a couple of hours maybe. She workd fine and I only have 372MB of memory and a 1GHz Athlon. Of course, I'm not sticking two or three in a scene. There's also a hybrid V3 head with Posette's body that works really well. Also if you're into Posette, make sure to get the new Posette based NEA in freestuff.

First, NEA rules! Best thing to happen Poser since Eve. Narcisis is tremendously talented and generous. A beautiful versitile fast figure. I'll be even hapier if Narcisis is able to get the Dork-> Darien project out. I don't know why I am so resistant to buying V3RR since I guess I can afford it... some strange matter of pricipal? I can't figure out at all why I don't want to buy it even thogh I want to use V3 clothes and textures. Totaly irrational. Not to stir up trouble, which came first? Eve or V1? I can't remember.

pakled ( ) posted Tue, 29 March 2005 at 11:49 AM

hmm..which Eve? I remember an Eve based on Posette that had 'extra body parts' that you usually don't see, about '02 or so. Vicky might be slightly later, but then the first Vickie I got was the LR, and that from a Brit mag..;)

That Eve... with the buttock and breast/collor elements. Arduino has a nice version of it still on his website. I have always wiondered if somehow the Eve Vicky thing had something to do with the original MorphWorld coming down.

lmckenzie ( ) posted Tue, 29 March 2005 at 8:58 PM

Eve (and Azura) in their various incarnations were first though the last Eve (4) may have been in the wearly Vicky timeframe AFAIK. I think Arduino's Eve is a different figure that just happens to have the Eve name--she came with an apple IIRC. Bite the download bullet and download V3. I couldn't justify the morph packs but she's still a nice figure and reasonably lightweight without all the baggage. ADP has some nice non-Daz body morphs for her in the MP for $9.90 and there may be some non-Daz morphs elsewhere that would take up less memory.

momodot ( ) posted Tue, 29 March 2005 at 10:14 PM

That's interesting about ADP. I was thinking V3RR since all the morph stuff comes with it but still... Arduino may have a standard P4 character called Eve (there are several different things called Eve) but Arduino does have two version of Eve that are Traveler et al.'s Eve. I always wondered weather it was people ripping his stuff to sell on CD or Vicky that led him pull his original site.

lmckenzie ( ) posted Tue, 29 March 2005 at 11:05 PM

'All About Eve" would be quite a story. I think the Eve with apple and I think even the Poser snake in the PZ3 was the first one I remember from Arduino. I have two installed EveApNew and EveV2by_AP. Looking at the former, she looks considerably more ahem, detailed than I remember any of the original hip transplant versions but I couldn't swear as to who created what. Don't know about Morphworls. I did notice that the adult themed morphs and material vanished at some point. I think they may have been on the current Morphworld 30 site in the beginning. He did support Vicky up through V2 I think but not as much as Posette, who knows. I always assumed he just decided to make some well deserved profit on his work. You're probably right about V3RR in terms of having morphs already installed being a better idea in some ways. Since V3 is free, might as well get both since it's probably only $.0000001 worth of drive space to store her. Of course, my motto is 'Hoard now for tomorrow it may be gone.' :-)

Ugh. I buckled... I am now downloading the free V3 base (2hrs) and bought the $30 V3 head/body morph sets... I really hope it wasn't a mistake not getting V3RR ($40) instead. I decide compatiblity was more important than size. I just remeber Trav making referance to feeling burned but not wanting to air the matter in public (I should respect that right? But I thought that since years have gone by...) I think it was people repackaging and selling his Freestuff. I have just always wondered if the Eve developers recieved credit or compensation on Victoria given the grouping and mapping etc. similarity. Back to V3, I really hope my mchine doesn't choke on this thing!

lmckenzie ( ) posted Tue, 29 March 2005 at 11:32 PM

"...not wanting to air the matter in public..." I seem to recall something like that. I'm sure some of his morphs may have made their way into products. Just repackaging and selling them would have been galling. Too many bad things happened when money came into the Poser garden - oops, another Eve anology. Don't hate me if you don't like Big Vicky :-) Heck these days the extra $10.00 should almost but another 128MB of memory. Like I said, I don't have a hot machine by any means but I don't have big V3 textures or anything except some free clothes. Just don't try to push it and I think you'll be happy - until V4 comes out at least!

@momdot if you want either or both of the RR figures look at the 3D Starter Content.
It's only $29.95, includes both figures plus other stuff, and it's a DAZ original.

momodot ( ) posted Wed, 30 March 2005 at 2:26 AM

Oops! What tipped me from V3RR to V3 was the $40 vs. $30 price tag... still I'll check this Starter Content deal out. Thanks.

momodot ( ) posted Wed, 30 March 2005 at 2:30 AM

Oh Man! Total bummer!!! The animals LE, wedge cut, textures! etc... too sweet.

nruddock ( ) posted Wed, 30 March 2005 at 2:41 AM

I just happened so see a post about it, in the DAZ forums and there was on sale or it was specialed when I got on the 21st.

I think that Traveler made the first Eve before the first Victoria came out, after that he made some updates but there were other people modifing her too,the latest Eve is by Arduino not with an apple but with a whip 8^S Someone host somewhere the latest Traveler's Eve... pitklad

lmckenzie ( ) posted Wed, 30 March 2005 at 3:40 AM

Doesn't Daz have a guarantee or something? Don't know if they would let you change after downloading the morph packs but it's worth a try.

Wow... Talk about thread necromancy. It took me some searching, but I found Nea and Neja here: http://www.planit3d.com/source/viewtopic.php?t=3791

There are no problems with Vikie that can't be solved by a suitable application of high credit card balances..;)
