Do you remember the work Kort = TwoPynts did on one of my image ? see http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=2178674 Now, I'm very lucky, because another great artist (Egmont) did also some work on one of my latest postings ("Unusual Dutch view" see the link) : Here is the accompanying E-mail : quote : Monday 28, 2005, 2:45 PM Pacific Time Hello Michel, I did manage to do the Dutch bridge image. I adjusted the colours and cleaned up the levels and contrast. I added a little blue to the image and a touch of brown. Then gave it those wide 'fine art' borders. Tell me what you think. Take care Egmont unquote Thank you very much Egmont for yourfriendship and your nice work (I like it but to be honest for my feeling it has now a little bit too much contrast, just my opinion...) Just curious to see what the others friends are thinking... :~) mIcHeL

I really respect Egmont's talent and like what he did, but I think he went a little too dark. I think somewhere between your version and his would be perfect. Thanks for sharing. :) --Kort

Yep, definitely too dark for my taste too! The in between would be perfect indeed!

Hmmm..... yes I see that the contrast in your original gallery image was a little flat. What he did is nice but it's also too dark for me as well. I prefer what Tibet did. In between, not so dark that the darker tones like those in the tree's and river bank become black, the tones are crisp and natural looking.

I am, therefore I create.......

For what it's worth, I also prefer what tibet did. Looks more natural.

Where do I start? First off, in looking at it again, I agree that the image is too dark as a photograph. I was under the impression Michel was asking me how to present it framed, so I rethought the framing aspect and then played around with the image that reflected my original comment when it was first posted which was: "A wonderful image as it brings to mind the past. If this were a duo-tone, for it has the feel of an etching. Thank you for sharing such a peaceful image. V." However, I was reluctent to make it a duo-tone since I do not want others to think I only like B&W and not colour. But since we are talking about comparison, I agree with the adjustments made by tibet2004uk as being the better of all.The contrast level was clearly improved and then the feature that I did not use was to sharpen the image via sharpening or contrast level as tibet2004uk did. I therefore wish to thank tibet20004uk for making this image perfect. However, I did learn one thing, I must be careful as to how I play around with someone elses image. :) Never-the-less, thank you Michel for asking me to participate and I do look forward to another challenge.

I see what you were trying to go for Egmont, but as you say, it still had a little too much of the feel of a photo. It would make a great etching, I agree. maybe it if was pushed a bit more. ;) Hey all, this could be the start of a new monthly challenge...Make This Image The Best It Can Be! Eh? Eh? Well, it was just a thought. =]

Now I love the idea Kort!! ;) We could post images that need lots of improvement and then try to make them better!! This would be fun!!! I'm in!! As for GIMI53's image, I did that rather quickly and beside I'm really not an expert, starting photography myself! Some people in here could really help u much better than I did! But I'm pleased that u guys liked the result!! I feel SO proud now! :D hehe!

Regardless of ones level, we see and interpret things differently, that is why we have such a diverse difference of opinions. I too like the idea of Kort and have a monthly challange, but at the same time I hasten to include that it would benefit us to work on the original image and untouched image even if it is one that is reduced to 108 or 72 dpi. This will allow us the finest results. Anyone up for a challenge? :~)

Well, I'm happy that this created nice exchanges in the Forum... Thank you Pascale, Kort and Egmont... you're all great (and different) artists. I'm so happy to stay in touch with you... You like a challenge... and I like to learn... So, here is another one : can someone teach me how to - for example - remove the electric line in zorroclinton's last posting (see link) ? (as Zacko suggested) This has probably already been explained here, but I couldn't find it... Thanks a lot already
