Subject: Vue 5i benchmarks

Here are some benchmarks results with Vue 5 Infinite 5.05-02 (beta patch build 275946). I hope you will find them interesting. I used two scenes on the V5i CD, so everyone can run the benchmark. Unfortunately, I could not run a renderfarm benchmark as the network rendering is broken in build 275946 (missing textures, etc.). As I do not want to go back to the initial release, I'll wait until the problem is corrected in a new patch. All the PC had at least 768 MB RAM and at most 2 GB, running under Windows XP Pro Service pack 2. Theses scenes do not need a lot of RAM. Note that some of the PC have non standard frequencies, simply because they are overclocked (but perfectly stable). 1) Sponza scene, Ultra rendering mode, render to screen, 800 x 600 pixels. Athlon XP1800+ @ 1533 MHZ : 2 h 01 mn 34 s (7294 s) seen as 1 CPU Athlon XP2400+ @ 2000 MHz : 1 h 35 mn 03 s (5703 s) seen as 1 CPU Athlon 64 3400+ S754 @ 2400 MHz : 1 h 09 mn 29 s (4169 s) seen as 1 CPU Dual Athlon MP1800+ @ 1590 MHz : 1 h 06 mn 14 s (3974 s) seen as 2 CPU Athlon 64 3500+ s939 @ 2520 MHz : 1 h 04 mn 55 s (3895 s) seen as 1 CPU Pentium 4 2.4C @ 3300 MHz : 1 h 02 mn 53 s (3773 s) seen as 2 CPU Pentium 4 3.0C @ 3600 MHz : 0 h 57 mn 40 s (3460 s) seen as 2 CPU Dual Xeon 2.8 GHz @ 2800 MHz : 0 h 43 mn 22 s (2602 s) seen as 4 CPU I suppose V5i would see a dual core dual Xeon as 8 CPUs. 2) Bauhaus scene, final rendering mode, render to screen, 800 x 600 pixels. Athlon XP1800+ @ 1533 MHZ : 26 mn 25 s (1585 s) seen as 1 CPU Athlon XP2400+ @ 2000 MHz : 20 mn 21 s (1221 s) seen as 1 CPU Dual Athlon MP1800+ @ 1590 MHz : 16 mn 15 s (975 s) seen as 2 CPU Athlon 64 3400+ S754 @ 2400 MHz : 15 mn 27 s (927 s) seen as 1 CPU Pentium 4 2.4C @ 3300 MHz : 14 mn 33 s (873 s) seen as 2 CPU Athlon 64 3500+ s939 @ 2520 MHz : 14 mn 29 s (869 s) seen as 1 CPU Pentium 4 3.0C @ 3600 MHz : 13 mn 25 s (805 s) seen as 2 CPU Dual Xeon 2.8 GHz @ 2800 MHz : 10 mn 35 s (635 s) seen as 4 CPU As you can see, different scenes give different results : the Dual Athlon MP1800+ is faster than an Athlon 64 3400+ wih Sponza, but slower with Bauhaus. The Athlon 64 3500+ @ 2.52 GHz is slower than the P4C @ 3300 MHz in Sponza, but slightly faster in Bauhaus. I will run a detailed renderfarm analysis with 10 PC (12 CPUs) as soon as the rendercows are willing to work :) Same message posted in the Vue registered users forum.

hmmmmm, very interesting....cant wait to get my hands on vue 5I :) at least it seems as if vue 5 and vue 5I render at the same speed....I would have expected an advantage in renderspeed for vue 5I.....

Not a clean boot as I've got too many unread web pages open in other tabs to do that just now, but: Athlon 64 FX53 2GB RAM (1 CPU) 1) 1h10'03" 2) 15'33" I'll try again under more optimal settings tomorrow, and if there's a big difference post again.
