Hey Peacer..... I IM'ed you.... I'm gonna fire up MAX and get going as soon as the kid goes to sleep!!! What resources are you using for textures? I just use RDNA's P5 mats and they're pretty good but might not work in P4... Hopefully you'll get back to me... Later!! Gerard

Hey, I dropped a reply in your inbox so check that out. As for textures, like I said, I'm using various textures from products I purchased from DAZ (Stonemason, etc.) among others, but if you have any other places where I can download or purchase high quality textures, don't hesitate to let me know! I'm willing to pay to make this hospital look as realistic and gritty as possible. Thanks!
Well, I could always just use QuickDirt in MAX and that'll help in decaying things somewhat!! I'm working on it in MAX right now and I'll email or post some screenies! Later Peacer!! I'm stoked about working on this again!! Thanks! G

Grab your digital camera and go to a hospital yourself. Been awhile since I've been to one, but if memory serves, ceilings were 10 ft, doors very thick and wooden, floors tiled with some type of contrasting colors, ceilings with that gypsum like tiling and flourscent lights in them, walls painted a very faded shade, often green.
coridoors have sinks every so often to wash hands, with elbow taps or fawcet with motion sensor button on wall, towel dispensor and soap dispensor on wall, bin underneath. nurses station with maybe desk behind and xray lights, and treatment room behind, and stock room with shelves might be behind nurses station too. crash cart - trolley with emergency drugs, bag for giving 02 and defibrillator/monitor. chairs and pot plant at window at end of cooridoor where relatives can wait or patient's can sit and chat. Poles on wheels for patients to hang their drips on when walking around. you could have a wheelchair in the coridoor too. love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
between the doors where the sinks are tends to be set back so that they won't get in the way of the trolleys being wheeled past. ie little enclaves every so often along the coridoors.

There's several hospital and corrider props that I've collected all over the place including here - there shoul be a hospital room and hospital cafeteria here in Poser Freebies but you'mll have to click back quite a ways to find it - just go to Google to and look up "Hospital Room Poser 4" - don't know what results you get but it's worth a try.
Hey man, that's an awesome start! I'm liking it already! I would like it pretty close to that pic, with the brownish tiled floors, and that green "stripe" on the base of the wall texture. As for the hallways, keep one version with windows on one side, and then another version can look the same but without the windows (the second version will be the standard hospital wing). But yeah, I'm getting very excited about this. Can't wait to see it later on! Thanks again

DANG Ziggie!!!! NICE!!!! Wow, I love the attention to detail in your hospital room! Even the get well card!! What are you modelling in? And how long do you spend on a project like that? Just curious, just starting out making Poser props like the above! G

ghelmer: I use Carrara for all my modelling. How long... toooo long LOL. Actually... I find the modelling the easiest/quickest part, it's the texturing that holds me back. I am a crap painter :-( I find the ERC rigging etc., difficult as well. The ERC controls on the rig attached to the bed took a couple of weeks... basically cos I havn't got a clue what I am doing. I just keep trying differnt things till it works :-) I have a kinda ADD and have to learn things all over again all the time... and if I leave a project for too long, I have to scrap it cos when I go back to it... I have forgotten how I did it LOL. Good luck with your prop making :-)

Hey Peacer... I'm just trying to UVmap these darned props... I was hoping to have it done by tomorrow... not gonna happen.... I suck with UVMapper!! I still have your email addie... I'll fire it off your way when it's done... G

Hey no problem, I'm in no rush. And off topic, I just have to say this because as a big movie fan, I've been so sick of a lot of the recent Hollywood crap that has been disappointing me... but I just got home from Sin City, and wow... nothing can describe how friggin' amazing this movie was! Sorry I had to get that off my chest! I do the same when I come home disappointed from movies, only the words are worded a little differently for... obvious reasons.

NOTE: I'm using Poser 4!
Hey,
I'm sort of a newb at modeling, though I've been using Poser 4 for a while, so I got a good idea of what the program can do. Unfortunately, I cannot really find any hospital interiors on the net that reach my expectations, so I'm going to give it a go myself. I want this thing to be as realistic as possible, and have a really gritty, rundown look to it (it's abandon).
Basically, I'll probably just use premade walls, ceilings, and floors, and put them together to create rooms and hallways. Although, to do this, I'll need to throw in windows and doors, so it can't just be squares with textures (I'm going to probably use door models, not just textures of doors or windows).
I'll narrow it down to exactly what I need help with, so that way I won't confuse you guys :-)
*Size ratios of certain props (such as a square for a wall) and the textures being put on them. Basically I'm not sure how to know how big a prop should be when putting a texture on it. Lets say I make a specific hallway texture that's a certain height, so I'll need to know how big to make the square (being one of the walls) so the texture doesn't stretch, loop over, etc.
*How do I save or export the whole thing as one single figure? When I use it, I don't want to see all the figures and props made to create it... I just want it to be one single figure.
*Tips on realism? I want to use some pretty high res textures and bump maps, though not too big so as to crash my PC :-(
That's it for now, but any more tips would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone knows any place where I can download already existing ceilings, walls, etc. so I can just piece them together and save me time, that'd be phenominal! I'm also looking for more realistic textures, such as tiled floors, etc.
I've seen some hospital interiors, and though they're good, they're still pretty fake looking. Since my animations so far have been pretty good looking (using Stonemason's great sets, and DAZ's people), I want the hospital to fit right in with the realism.
Sorry for being a newb, but I'm trying to learn! Thanks for any help!
