Subject: Poser or Bryce? ...Nudity?

This is my first serious attempt at using both Poser and Bryce. I had just bought Michael and was itching for a project in which to use him and Victoria, but I had no clothes for Mike. Then, inspiration struck. I have a coffee table book of Greek and Roman mythology and the cover painting depicted the story of Ganymede. He was a youth of such special beauty that Zeus sent an eagle down to bear him up to Mount Olympus to dwell with the gods as their cup bearer. Sounds like a rather cushy job to me. ;^) But, the main point was that all of the figures were very near to being naked. I didn't need clothes for Mike! So this is my rendition of that painting. I wish to post it to the art gallery but I'm not sure which archive to use. While it was rendered in Bryce and includes 14 boolean objects that I created, it does, at the same time, have 17 Poser figures. So, Poser or Bryce gallery? Oh, yeah, and should I check the nudity box? After all,the... shall we say... essential parts are covered. Also, any helpful comments on how I may improve it before I do post it would be appreciated. Gem P.S. Please forgive the hair. #1 it's my first attempt at post-render hair. #2 That hair style on the central figure was the style used in the painting. LOL!

first of all, wow, this is truly first-class work. Second, gotta say "Poser" gallery because there are so many figures here and not a lot of Bryce that I can see -Darth

I agree with Darth: this is a stunner; good work, Gem! You've really caught the classical lighting here. And don't apologize for the hair; Ganymede was probably a nancy-boy, anyhow! --texboy

Thanks Darth and texboy. Poser it is. And... um... according to the texts, Zeus did have ulterior motives about that pretty-boy. Much to the fury of Hera, his wife. Those Greeks! ;^)

I'm sure that wherever the original artists are now, they're cussing up a storm at what we can do now...

Pretty darn impressive! Definitely has that classical look to it.

Terrific image! If any image shows the stupidity of gallery sections designated by program, it's this one. Art galleries should be organised by the subject of the art! When you go to non-virtual art galleries, they aren't divided up by 'Windsor and Newton' paints; 'Daler' drawing boards; etc. How silly would that be? Darth wrote: < ...and not a lot of Bryce that I can see > LOL, that's the idea behind mastering programs. I don't see a lot of Poser here either, nor (assuming there is some) any post render work. I do see a lot of Gem_719 input though. Funny that... ;-)

The hair and "clothes" are totally post-render. Also, the clouds are Bryce but they needed a little work too because where the spheres intersected it sometimes showed a "seam", like the way big soap bubbles stick together. BTW - I set everything up in one Bryce file. It's 176M and took over 4 hours to render. Yikes! Next time, maybe I'll try breaking an image this complex down into several Bryce files and compositing them later.

I am in awe of your masterful work! My wife says the same! We are both speechless!

heyas; excellent work! you should send it to daz for their gallery showcases, i'm sure they'd like it. i'd put a nudity label on it, because technically the cherubim guys and all are unclothed. and there's plenty of at least semi-nude figures that the label won't seem gratuitous. and we wont get into a discussion of the gory details of the ganymede myth; let's just enjoy the nice picture, huh?
