Subject: April Night Shots....i suck at this....

Zacko ( ) posted Sun, 03 April 2005 at 2:46 PM · edited Sat, 28 December 2024 at 11:33 AM

Aaargghh, how i hate my fully automatical camera now...sigh...ah well, soon enough Andreas...soon enough... This is my first (possibly my only, LOL) "contribution" to the April challenge. Just a photo of our house and as you can see...the snow is melting away fast.

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

And i just have to show this one too...I was gonna take a photo of the forest across the stream in our yard, so i started my car to light it up a bit....these are the headlights of my car...thought it looked kinda cool. #:O)

now andreas, you know what you would say to someone else who said "they suck" :P you have the interest, artistic flair & you did it! think you may have had enough light in the first to not use the flash (you should have the option on your cam not to use it, yes?) it's a fine shot & entry, maybe even better to crop the flash foreground & clone the branch out the 2nd is fun & creative! :]

Zacko ( ) posted Sun, 03 April 2005 at 3:53 PM

I thought about cloning the branch out actually....but i felt toooooo lazy, LOL. But to be honest...its quite pitch black here. The only light i had was from my windows and those streetlights. I cant belive how light it turned out actually. The second one happened by accident when doggie knocked the tripod over in the middle of the shoot, LOL. Thank you by the way, youre always too sweet #:O)

LOL!!! i was wondering if you had slipped or something in the 2nd... it was your helpful assistant! :] it's pitch black here too... not even any streetlights... hmmm... was thinking much the same as you... turn every light on inside the house & go out & shoot it, or use the truck headlights & see if i find something interesting, have some older shots that are pretty cool, just don't get to the city that often at night :P have a good day! off to work in the garden... :]

Have to agree with Cindy - I like the shot lots but not to sure about the foreground. The homely glow of a light form a window into the darkness makes an excellent shot. Not all night scenes are cityscapes it will be nice to see some dark shots too, maybe a shaft of light penetrating the darkness from an open door and such. The second shot makes for a happy accident some of the best images happen like that and this one is good too.
Now I am thinking you always say your shots suck for the sympathy vote cos they are great as you always get told :p As you have discovered digital camaras work amazingly well with very little light.

And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.

Bloody hell Andreas! Can't u see that this is an awesome night shot??? I love it!! I think u did fantastically well here!! I agree about the branches on the side that are distracting but other than that I really love this shot!!! Yep!! Keep them coming!

Are you sure the second on is headlights? humm...maybe visitors from "up there".. The second is a nice accident. Crop the first and I think if flies! Tom.
