Subject: V5I, Can't drag items to new layer....happening to anyone else???

dlk30341 ( ) posted Sat, 02 April 2005 at 3:25 PM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 5:07 PM

I added a new layer & tried to drag a couple items to the new layer & it was a no go. Is this problem specific to me? Or I have I missed a setting somewhere? Or is it a bug? TIA

A couple items?...In same selection/drag? What kind of item?

I tried it with a PZ3 and an alpha plane.....I did finally get it to work....very odd though.....I created a new layer, added a new item...once I added the new item I was then able to move around items...but while the layer was empty, I was unable to move items to the new layer...go figure.... Sorry, for the late response...went back to working on the scene.

Weird indeed. Not a bug...indeed.

It was & still is weird.....oh well...something I can certainly live with...just need to learn to plan ahead as to layers....maybe it was a 1x thing....

Anyhoo...I love this software...already have the scene loaded with pz3's...just now beginning the eco-system portion and not a skip/slowdown in the system whatsoever!!! WOOOOT!!!! Back to work :) Thanks for your help :) Have a great evening.

I seem to be having the same problem. (With any item). The only way to move something to a new layer, is to Cut then select the new layer and Paste. Very strange?!?

Could it be a graphic memory problem you have? If you haven't tried, you can maybe switch off the automatic preview update and see wether this makes a difference.

One day your ship comes in - but you're at the airport.

I will give it a try, but I don't think this would be the problem, though you never know. I am using an nVIDIA Quadro4 980 XGL with 128.0 MB memory on the card itself. Maybe Vue Infinite does need more graphic memory. I will try and post my results.

Nope. No difference. It is something I can live with. I didn't mention that it does not do this all the time, but more often than not. Anyway, not to worry about it at the moment. If it starts to become a problem, I'll bring it up again. Thanks for your help Gareth:)
