THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Underwater Reflection lighting..

Does anyone have any good textures/gels for underwater reflections? you know them lines of light that form on objects under water?

I have one but it sort of stinks, the rays get smaller and thinner and join in the middle of the texture into a dot, then get wider and more spaced out along the outer edge.. it's really hard to work with and gives me a very unrealistic look...

So does anyone know where I can find a few good ones please?

Here's a link to the Caustics Generator program. Have fun, it's all explained on the site, and it's FREE!!

or if you don't want to use a separate program:

  • create a terrain
  • go to the terrain editor change the terrain size to whatever size you need, change the fractal to ridges or warped ridges and apply it
  • if you like the fractal, hit control-c to copy the grayscale image into memory, leave the terrain editor and delete the terrain
  • click your light, go to the texture editor, then the image editor and hit paste on the first and middle boxes

Voila! quick and easy brycean light gels. Caustics Generator is a pretty cool little program, though.

ICM, Sounds like a good idea. Er.... which one do you download? Win32 binary: Caustics Generator v1.4 (418 KB) or Win32 source: Caustics Generator v1.3 (409 KB) ???? It doesn't say. Help? Fran
