I keep getting rather annoying unsolicited messages via Yahoo Messenger from total strangers. I changed my preferences to where I don't accept messages from people not on my list, but I regularly get contact requests from people I don't know (what is UP with that, anyway?). Given the nature of "messages from strangers on Yahoo" and the fact that if it was business related they could contact me via any of several websites, I feel comfortable disallowing such messages...

Anyway, today I got yet ANOTHER, which annoyed me so much that I changed my Yahoo profile. I put up a new picture of "myself". I'm hoping it'll maybe scare them off just a little bit.... (And anyone who REALLY knows me will get a giggle from it, because if they know me, they know I have a peculiar sense of humor). ;-)

I've wanted a moustache for a loooong time, but I want one like Simon Legree, something which can be waxed and twirled and trained to reflect body language. The little nose-warmer there just doesn't quite do it. ;^)

LOL! Let us know if it works. I always use a male-sounding screen name because I don't want to be pestered by Internet lonelyhearts. (They're usually married, anyway!)

I'm not sure if this may work as I use a different message system althogether (ICQ) but you could try to check your settings to see if it displays your IP address. I've set mine to only display my IP address to people on my list. It could be that someone is pinging at random and encountered a connected message port at your IP address so they sent a message.
